Murrah is a native of Jhajjar dist....and so import from where ??
Now due to in-breeding and crossing Murrah with other breeds.....there is no pure line available right now, Harayana is the only place where we cud have found one...The previous govts had already implemented this sceme and annonced a prize money for pure breed, but it went in the drain....The project was laid on 4 years back to retain the breed....but it was not success....we have totally ran out of pure Murrah...
On second thots I think this will lead to another scam...INR 92 crore is a huge capital....if judicially spent might lead to drastic changes in animal welfare and health....But then the department and people have to have an attitude to work......who is gonna buy that crap ??

and about the picture...its really a beautiful breed....or rather shud I say an Animal...plz follow the attachment

    Adarsh Murrah Gaon scheme introduced
    Tribune News Service

    Chandigarh, September 18
The Haryana government has introduced a novel scheme named “Adarsh Murrah Gaon” to improve the breed of murrah buffaloes and increase milk production in the state.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said under the scheme, all villages having 50 or more murrah buffaloes with at least one-third of them giving 15 litres milk or more per day would be declared “Adarsh Murrah Gaon”.

Murrah breed societies would be constituted in these villages and each such society would be given a grant of Rs 5 lakh, which would be spent on the development, preservation and propagation of murrah buffaloes, he added.

He pointed out that this year 15 villages had been declared as “Adarsh Murrah Gaon”. These were Madina, Kharkara, Gaddi Kheri, Nindana and Sundana in Rohtak district; Kungar and Badhra in Bhiwani district; Mandothi, Dubaldhan, Bahadurgarh, Dighal and Sasrauli in Jhajjar district; Sandhwakhas and Umra in Hisar district; and Ikkas in Jind district.
