Simple answer: We 'll live 30 times (approx) than our normal age.
This statement could be modified in many ways.
(Assuming we're not changing anything else)
Note: Statement qualifies for arguments/discussion :p
"Similia Similibus Curentur"
well, 30 times faster earth, won't 'throw' or 'suck' us... we will only be a little 'lighter' than what we are now!! (and that also depends on where we are.. how far from the equator)
but yaah, if earth start spinning faster, hurricanes/tornadoes will be more violent.
Hey Sunil- shouldn't we be thrown out of earth's gravitational field? Earth's rotational speed is 465m/s. Escape velocity is 11.2 km/s in absolute terms. But on equator an object needs only 10.735 km/s relative to earth to escape if it launched towards east. So if Earth's rotational speed increases to 11.2 km/s (A factor of around 24 times), then the object should need 0 km/s to escape. So anything greater than escape velocity should be enough to throw us out (Probably even lesser, to become a satellite you need only 8 km/s)? Please explain.
yes Kapil, u r right. i didn't think much about the calculations. For some strange reasons.'30 times' appeared too less to me :o (well, its not that small )
Indeed, at such speeds, anybody/anything anywhere near the equator will be 'thrown out'!! only the things near to poles will be left. [though i wonder, how much will be left ??] These 'polar things' will start marching towards the equator to further bulge the earth to compensate the 'new resultant' grvaitational force which is now inclined more towards the equator. As anything that is near equator is going 'out' for a six, forget the further bulging, equotrial excavation will never fill and hence total collapse!! May be earth will be confined to a quantum dot finally.
