Preventive Counter Measures to share with Drivers.

The rainy season has come and as you know the rain is blamed for thousands of accidents yearly. Many of these accidents are preventable, but are caused by non-alert drivers who don't realize that fair-and foul-weather driving are fundamentally different, always leads to ACCIDENT of Trucks.
This is our endeavour to pre-alert you that why & how maximum Accidents occur during rain so that you would share the same with all your Drivers as a preventive measures towards road accident.

Our motto – “No road Accident whether loaded or off-loaded truck, during the rainy season”

When the road is wet, the water films on the tarmac lose the tyres gripping. It is fact that driver perception on road reduces as the visibility of road decreases during both day & night. While most drivers know to slow down the speed of the truck in the rain, there are other following tips that will certainly help you to share with your drivers.

ALWAYS remember that the stopping ability of truck is reduced on slippery (wet) road, so whenever driver is driving on wet road surfaces should reduce speed accordingly and allow sufficient space in between the self truck and the vehicle running in front of it.

ALWAYS maintain a smooth, even acceleration while traveling on wet road. Sudden braking can cause loss of vehicle control. Taking Driver’s foot off the accelerator quickly can have the same effect as sudden braking.

Hydroplaning occurs when standing water on a road surface is deeper than the tread depth of tyres, causing the tyres to lose contact with the road. If this happens, do NOT apply the brakes. Ease back on the accelerator until contact between the tyres and the road surface is restored. Hard braking can cause the loss of vehicle control.

In wet weather, brakes get damp and lose their effectiveness. Keep them dry and ready for instant use by lightly riding the brake pedal for several seconds and at regular intervals during wet weather driving. The heat produced by riding the pedal dries the brake lining.

Have Truck's braking system thoroughly inspected periodically. The only way to insure safe braking is to have the entire system inspected regularly by a qualified mechanic.

ALWAYS drive the speed limit or slightly less than the limit in rainy weather. Nearly one-third of all Truck crash fatalities result from speeding.

Make sure that headlights and taillights are working and lenses are clean.

Regularly clean wipers with a damp cloth to remove oils & debris and make sure those wipers in good condition and functioning properly.

Before driving the Truck, check tyres condition and correct air pressure.

    Don't speed through standing water.

    Don't change lanes.

Don't brake while in a curve if at all possible. Brake before entering the curve.

Use turn signals for all lane changes and turns well in advance so it does not surprise another vehicle’s driver and cause him to brake.

Never drive through deep water on a flooded road.

ALWAYS follow the rules of the road and respect other motorists. Usually, bad or rainy weather in and of itself leads a driver to be more nervous and/or emotional. Stay calm and focused on safe driving rules and techniques.
