Giving back to Society ? its time to introspect..

Around 50 American billionaires will be donating their 50% earning to society. In recent past it was Warren Buffet who had donated almost 80% of his earning to the bill gates foundation. What a great nationalists these Americans are. Indians can learn a lot from Israelis and Americans.

I wonder if any Indian LAKHPATI can donate even a penny ? Every year the list of billionaires has new names that includes industrialists, sportsmen, Bollywood stars, politicians, babus, so called socialists.. but I hardly see any of them coming forward to share some part of their earning for the welfare of the poor...

Haan agar kisi mandir ya dargah maie donate karne ho to.. hood si mache rehwe hai inme.. blank cheque be de dewe..

I was just thinking that why we Indians become so insensitive and neutral to national cause or interests.. what went wrong with most of us ??

The question of giving it back would arise when they will get some time from exploiting the poor. They are hungry themselves, how can you expect them to donate.

One way to get some donation money is to make the donation 300% tax free. That is when for every 100 rupees donated, 300 Rs of black money is exempted from tax.

But the common man is also responcible for a major part of black money. How many of us ask for a receipt when we buy things? Lot of transactions are done off books and we somehow are a part of it. Though we doesnt get much from it.

I think you are right. Had the common man asked for receipt of every rupee spent on (in the name of) common wealth (money) games. The situation would have been much better today.

We need to come out of this "common man has to do this and that" syndrome. If common man has to do everything then no nation will need police or any other regulatory apparatus. The common man pays tax and it is the duty of the enforcement agencies to ensure that receipts are being made and no sales tax is evaded. Are not those sales tax officers getting paid their salaries every month? If so why they are not doing their duty for which they are getting paid...

Can a common man who is working in a private or some other work will get paid if he/she does not do the work expected out of him/her? No where that happens. A common man can fight with a foreign occupation but can not do so with corruption. That is something for which govt has to take hard steps, they have to make very strict laws, such laws so that no one can evade them. Common man cant do this, he can only bring BJP, 3rd Front etc back in power and realize that they too are same, they also wont do anything as its the politicians near and dear ones who benefits most from this system.

Haha I don't have this "common man has to do this and that" syndrome. But surely we do need to come out of cynicism. What you said about sales tax officer is too good :rockBut I just said we are also responsible for it. I didnt say only common man is responsible for it. Govt does educate masses though TV campaign, newspaper and other thing. Anyway, I believed its a mutual responsibility.

    In Addition to this post-----------

Majority of our transactions are done off book. Moreover lot of we people buy stuff at MRP. Now this MRP is the maximum price that he can charge, inc of all taxes but if the baniya doesnt make a receipt, he is saving taxes but what are we saving? Nothing !
