New Delhi, Aug 13 (TruthDive): Former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, who has been absconding for long has appealed for anticipatory bail in the Delhi High Court in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, after his bail plea was dismissed by a lower court four days before.
Senior advocate K T S Tulsi, appearing on behalf of the accused tendered the anticipatory bail plea before a bench of justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Vipin Sanghi in order to list the matter before the respective court today or tomorrow, to which the court has asked the registry to list the matter for hearing tomorrow.
Kanda who moved anticipatory bail plea four days after his first one was dismissed by a lower court which said that the allegations against him were "severe and stern" and he may hamper the probe.
Mr Kanda is facing the charge of abetting to suicide of Geetika Sharma, who was as an ex-airhostess with his now-defunct MDLR airline.
Twenty-three year old Geetika was found hanging in her flat in northwest Delhi on August 5 along with a suicide note near her in which the deceased had mentioned that she was ending her life due to continuous harassment by Mr Kanda and MDLR manager Aruna Chaddha.
Since the day of Geetika’s death, Kanda has been absconding, while his manager Aruna Chaddha was arrested and is being probed by the police. Kanda, who is the managing director of the airlines, remains the prime suspect in the MDLR air hostess's death.
Raids were carried out by the police in various parts of Delhi, Haryana and Siliguri including the office of the MDLR group in Gurgaon in order to trace the culprit but in vain, said a senior police official.
The Delhi police accompanied by some women police officers had to keep waiting at the four-storey office building at the posh Sector 15 on Sunday for more than two hours, said the police.
