Ajay Singh Chautala

Dr. Ajay Singh Chautala (born on 13th March, 1961) is elder son of Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala and Smt. Sneh Lata. He did his Bachelor of Arts from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Master of Arts in Public Administration and L.L.B. from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. He pursued research in Public Administration for the award of the Degree of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Even during his school and College days, he showed inclination towards public life and as such joined politics at an early date. In 1980s, he joined active politics and worked for the party organization. He joined electoral fray in 1989 when he contested election as a candidate for becoming member of Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly from Dantaramgarh constituency in Sikar district and won it with handsome majority in his favour. Again he repeated the feat from Nauhar Assembly constituency in 1993. After having served two terms as Member of Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly, he, in 1998, contested election for the Lok Sabha from Bhiwani Parliamentary constituency and trounced his rivals with considerable margin. He remained member of the Rajya Sabha from 2003-9. Currently he represents Dabawali Constituency as an MLA in Haryana. Dr. Ajay Singh has flair for academic programme and out of his very busy schedule as a public man; he snatches time to pursue his studies. He has edited a book: “Chaudhary Devi Lal- Life, Work and Philosophy” and also continues to contribute from time to time his thought provoking articles on multiple issues to various journals and news papers of repute. He is associated with a large number of educational and social service institutions and organisations. He is also actively associated with the cooperative movement in the country and has adored high profile position of the Director of IFFCO. Over the years he has emerged as a multi faceted personality. Dr. Singh is Secretary General of Indian National Lok Dal. He has a knack for organizing the political and social gatherings especially a good organizer of political conferences and rallies. He has done yeoman’s service to his political party, the Indian National Lok Dal, as president of the Youth Wing. After having established himself as a leader of the party with mass appeal and wide acceptability, he has been assigned the post of National Secretary General of Indian National Lok Dal. Under his dynamic leadership as many as two scores of different wings of the party have been organized from the grass roots level to the national level and thus a large number of active full time workers have been associated with the party. From his days as student he has been deeply interested in sports and games. He has been President of the Table Tennis Federation Haryana, the Table Tennis Federation of India and the Commonwealth Counties Table Tennis Federation over the years. He is a widely travelled person and has visited several countries of Asia, Europe, Australia, South and North America and Africa.
