Ashish Nehra is an Indian cricketer. He was born on April 29, 1979 in Delhi in Hindu Jat family of Nehra gotra.His father Diwan Singh, is a manager in a Delhi government corporation.His mother's name is Sumitra Nehra.He Joined a sports-conscious local school, Salvan Public school after his matriculation.During his graduation from Rajdhani college,he joined a reputed Delhi cricket club named Sonnet Club, which brought the best out of him. He bowls left-arm fast medium. His career statistics are better in ODI cricket than in Test cricket, but with 92 ODI wickets at an average of 31.07 his average is higher than all three of his main competitors for fast bowling places in the Indian team - Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar all have bowling averages below 30. Nehra's one-day international best is six for 23, against England at the 2003 World Cup.
