Banchari (बनचारी) is a village under Hodal Tehsil of Palwal district in Haryana. The village comes under BRAJ KSHETRA (Brajbhoomi). Banchari is very famous for Its HOLI Mela and Dauji temple. बंचारी को कवियों की नगरी भी कहा जाता है। शायद ही कोई ऐसा गांव होगा जहां एक ही गांव से विभिन्न लड़ाइयों में चार जवानों से अपनी शहादत दी है।

यू बंचारी गांव रचायो, बलदाऊ जी ने खेड़ों, सिर सोने को मुकुट, कन्हैया जी पे दुपटटा पेरो। ऊंचो बनो अस्थान, विश्व मोहिनी बांसुरी, जापे आप बजाए भगवान, बंसी फेर बजा मेरे प्यारे।

द्वापर युग से शूरमाओं की जन्मभूमि कहा जाता है गांव बंचारी को। दिल्ली से 80 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर नंबर- दो पर बसा बंचारी गांव एक ऐतिहासिक गांव है। बंचारी गांव की यादें भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के बडे़ भाई बलदाऊ से भी जुड़ी हुई हैं। इस गांव ने जहां कई आइएएस व आइपीएस अधिकारी दिए हैं, वहीं बॉलीबाल के भी कई नेशनल खिलाड़ी इस गांव से संबंध रखते हैं। गांव के ही एक सपूत ने भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध में भी शहादत देकर गांव का नाम रोशन किया। बताया जाता है कि भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के बडे़ भाई बलदाऊ जी गांव के एतिहासिक बलदाऊ मंदिर वाले स्थान पर घूमने आया करते थे। उन्हीं की याद में यहां बलदाऊ का मंदिर स्थापित किया गया था।

बंचारी गांव में बीरबल, राघव व उनके दो पुत्र पुरुषोत्तम व प्रशांत आइएएस अधिकारी हैं। पुरुषोत्तम व प्रशांत दिल्ली में आइएएस के पद पर कार्यरत हैं। जबकि नागालैंड के पूर्व राज्यपाल व पंजाब के पूर्व महानिदेशक व ओम प्रकाश शर्मा भी इसी गांव के निवासी हैं। ओम प्रकाश शर्मा को तो पंजाब से आतंकवाद का सफाया करने वाले अधिकारियों में से एक माना जाता है। पूरे देश में बंचारी गांव की बॉलीबाल टीम की एक अलग ही पहचान है। बॉलीबाल में बंचारी के कई नामी नेशनल व अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर खेल चुके हैं, इतना ही नहीं बॉलीबाल खिलाड़ी चंद्र सिंह सौरोत भारतीय बॉलीबाल टीम के कोच भी रहे हैं।

बंचारी की नगाड़ा पार्टी विश्व प्रसिद्ध है। यहां की नगाड़ा पार्टी भारत में ही नहीं बल्कि विदेशों में भी धूम मचा चुकी है। विदेशों से भी नगाड़ा पार्टी को कार्यक्रमों में आमंत्रित किया जाता है। सूरजकुंड का मेला हो या फिर विश्व व्यापार ट्रेड फेयर का मेला हो, बंचारी की नगाड़ा पार्टी वहां धूम मचाती ही है। ब्रज की होली की बात चले और बंचारी के फूल डोल की चर्चा न हो, ऐसा हो ही नहीं सकता। होली की खुमारी इस कदर लोगों पर चढ़ी होती है कि 24 गांव के लोग यहां होली खेलने के लिए जुटते हैं। बंचारी गांव में पूर्व से बारह और पश्चिमी से भी बारह गांवों में सौरोत बिरादरी के जाट अपने-अपने दलों के नगाड़ों के साथ गाते बजाते प्रवेश करते हैं तो सारा गांव नगाड़ों, तालों और ढोलक की थापों से गुंजायमान हो जाता है। बंचारी का फूलडोल अपने आप में एक महत्व रखता है। होली के बाद बंचारी में लगने वाले फूल डोल को दूर-दराज से लोग देखने आते हैं। होली के इसी रंग के कारण इस गांव को हरियाणा का ब्रज कहा जाता है।

ब्रज 84 कोस की परिक्रमा का भी हिस्सा है: ब्रज की 84 कोस की परिक्रमा का भी बंचारी एक अहम हिस्सा है। बंचारी गांव से होकर परिक्रमा देने वाले यात्री यहां से गुजरते हैं। स्थानीय ग्रामीण राम टेल मांग भोजन एकत्रित कर यात्रियों की सेवा करते हैं।

Banchari falls on the Braj 84 kos yatra (a nearly 252 kms pilgrimage originating from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh). The pilgrimage finds mention in the Vedas. The village, located 26 kms from district headquarter of Palwal, is famous for lathmar Holi, also called Banchari Holi. Banchari constitutes of three pattis: Chauthiyya Patti, Prem Patti, and Pachhan Patti. Banchari is considered as a big village in its class. It is also famous for cotton cultivation. The word Banchari literally translates to ban-charana. There has been 5 IAS officers from this village. The holy temple of DAUJI MAHARAJ means a lot of the local people. The onset of spring is announced with the beats of Nagada (a large drum) and songs that celebrate the love of Lord Krishna and Radha. The traditional NAGADAS of Banchari are famous all over the world. The traditional HOLI MELA is popular among foreigners. Every year footage of HOLI MELA is taken by the foreigners. Young artists clad in white kurta shirts and pajamas or dhotis, colourful turbans sings the medieval song and dance of Banchari- the art form that has got its name from the village.

In this village there is a huge variety of poets. A lot of poets have been to abroad due to their talent. Over 800 folk songs written by 150 poets, mostly in Braj Bhasha, which make up the core of this folk song and dance form have been passed on from one generation to another since ages. Most of this transfer has been word of mouth because only a handful of songs can be found in documents.

The people are from different castes and communities but majority is SOROUT JAT community. The village has a very proud history. The village has produced gallantry awarded defence personnel and martyrs. Agriculture is the main profession of residents. The spirit of brotherhood is among them to a large extent.

History

It was occupied by the Sorot Jats around 1500 A.D. It is said that three brothers of Sorot Jat clan had arrived in this area before from Manak Jartauli village in UP. The eldest among them was Ojhoo who settled at Hodal , the second settled at Banchari, north of Hodal, and the youngest settled at Sondh, towards the northwest of Hodal.

  • Jiwa Ram Jat - Jiwa Ram Banchari (Sorot) was the Diwan of Bharatpur princely state. He was resident of Banchari village under Hodal Tehsil of Palwal district in Haryana.

  • शहीद महिलाल सिँह - वीर चक्र विजेता, सन 1965 की भारत-पाक लड़ाई में गांव बंचारी के शहीद महिलाल सिँह ने अपने सीने पर ग्रेनेड बांधकर पाक टैंक को धवस्त किया था।
  • शहीद बीरबल - 1971 का युद्ध।
  • शहीद दीपचंद - हवलदार दीपचंद 31 दिसंबर 2001 को इम्फाल मणीपुर में हुई आतंकवादियों की गोलीबारी में कारगिल युद्व में शहीद हुए थे।
  • शहीद कृष्ण कुमार सौरोत - महाराष्ट्र के आयुध डिपो में आग लगने से अपनी जान न्यौछावर कर दी। कृष्ण कुमार सीआरपीएफ में 111वीं बटालियन में फायर मैन के पद पर तैनात था।
