Bilpank

Bilpank (बिलपांक) is a village in Ratlam tahsil in Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh. Its population as of 2001 is 3,206. Bilpank is a small village located on the National Highway 79, about 15 km south-west of Ratlam, in Madhya Pradesh.
The village houses an ancient shrine, the Bilpakeshwara Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Some of the nearby tourist spots include Sailana Bird Sanctuary, Sailana Garden and Gadkhange Mata Temple at Bajna.

Bilpakeshwara Temple
The Bilpakeshwara temple is located at a distance of 19 kms, South-West direction from Ratlam. It is approached through a deviation fare-weather Road about 3 kms from Mhow-Neemach Highway. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is built in Pachayatana variety. It was constructed in circa 10-11th Century A.D., over low Jagati consisting of plain mouldings. It is easterly oriented Nirandhara Mulaprasada and this Mulaprasada includes Sapta-Ratha-Garbhagriha. The temple is recta in plan and consists of a Garbhagriha, Antarala and a Mahamandapa, all in axis facing East. This temple is built in Gurjara-Chalukyan style of architecture, a contemporary style of the Paramara temple architecture. Such type of temples are noticed at Atree and Krishnavilas, Kota, Rajasthan.
विरूपाक्ष महादेव मंदिर बिलपांक
महू-नीमच रोड़ पर रतलाम से करीब १९ किमी पहले बिलपांक नामक ग्राम बसा है. मुख्य सड़क से पूर्व की और करीब २ किमी अन्दर है. रतलाम बदनावर से बिलपांक के लिए नियमित बस सेवा है. बिलपांक में वन विश्राम गृह है, आरक्षण वन मंडल अधिकारी रतलाम द्वारा किया जाता है.इस गाँव में विरूपाक्ष महादेव का मंदिर है. यह गुर्जर-चालुक्य (परमार कला के समकालीन) का अप्रतिम उदाहरण है. यहाँ के स्तम्भ व शिल्प सौन्दर्य इस काल के चरमोत्कर्ष को दर्शाते हैं. वर्तमान मंदिर से गुजरात के चालुक्य नरेश सिद्धराज जयसिंह संवत ११९६ का शिलालेख प्राप्त हुआ है. जिससे यह ज्ञात होता है कि महाराजा सिद्धराज जयसिंह ने इस मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार करवाया था. इस मंदिर की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि है, मंदिर प्रवेश के समय सभा मंडप में दाहिने भाग पर शुंग-कुषाण कालीन एक स्तम्भ है, जो दर्शाता है कि इस काल में भी वहां मंदिर रहा होगा. इस मंदिर में शिल्प कला के रूप में चामुंडा, हरिहर, विष्णु, शिव, गणपति, पार्वती आदि की प्रतिमाएँ प्राप्त होती हैं. गर्भगृह के प्रवेश द्वार पर गंगा-यमुना, द्वारपाल तथा अन्य अलंकरण हैं. गर्भगृह के मध्य में शिवलिंग तथा एक तोरणद्वार भी लगा लगा हुआ है जो गुर्जर-चालुक्य शैली का है. शिवलिंग की जलाधारी पर उत्कीर्ण लेख से ज्ञात होता है कि वह जलाधारी सन १८८७ में स्थापित की गयी है. मंदिर के समीप धातु का एक विशाल घंटा है. जिस पर संवत १९४१ उत्कीर्ण है.
