Chharang (छरंग)[1] Chhadang (छडंग)[2][3] gotra Jats live in Maharashtra. [4] Chharang Gotra Jats live in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

History

Sant Kanha Ram[5] writes that Dudi and Chharang Jats are reported inhabiting village Lunsara in year 1103 AD when Tejaji went to Paner from Kharnal and made a night halt in Lunsara on 25.8.1103 in Jayal tahsil of Nagaur district in Rajasthan.

In Mahabharata

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 48 describes snake-sacrifice of the king Janamejaya of the Pandava line and the names of those who became the monarch's Ritwiks and Sadasyas at that sacrifice of the son of Parikshit. The snake-sacrifice was so frightful to the snakes, and begetting such sorrow in them. This sacrifice of the son of Parikshit was for the extermination of the the Naga race. Takshaka (I.48.14) was the prince of Nagas. Chharnga (छार्ङ्ग) is mentioned in verse (I.48.6). [6]
