Dulla Bhatti

Dulla Bhatti was Raja of Pindi Bhattian in Hafizabad district in the state of Punjab, Pakistan. He lived in 16th century A.D.

History

H A Rose writes that in Gujrat the Bhattis trace their first settlements back to Dulla Bhatti, Raja of Pindi Bhattian who was put to death by Akbar (1542 – 1605). All his family was in Akbar's camp on the Jhelum, where they were kept in durance until released at the intercession of a faqir whose shrine is still pointed out at Chhapar on the bank of that river. Dulla's son, Kamal Khan was allowed to settle on the waste lands near Ghaman, still a Bhatti village, while the rest returned to Pindi Bhattian.

इतिहास

ठाकुर देशराज ने लिखा है .... पंजाब में किन्हीं दिनों भट्टी (यदुओं की एक शाखा) का बड़ा बोलबाला था। राजा रिसालू के बाद वहां दुल्ला भट्टी का नाम लिया जाता है। पंजाबी देहाती गीतों में दूल्हा की बहादुरी की प्रशंसा भरी पड़ी है। इसके नाम से पंजाब में ‘दुला की बार’ नाम से एक इलाका भी प्रसिद्ध रह चुका है। आगे चलकर भट्टियों की एक शाखा ही दुलड़ के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हो गई। इसी शाखा के कुछ लोग अब से सैकड़ों वर्ष पूर्व नेहरा वाटी, जो अब शेखावाटी के नाम से पुकारी जाती है, में आकर आबाद हो गए। मंडावा के पास उनका एक गाँव ‘दुलड़ों का बास’ नाम से मशहूर है। जिसे हनुमानपुरा भी कहते हैं।
