Gangal (गंगल) Gangal (गंगाल) is a Jat Gotra in Jammu and Kashmir. It is also a Muslim Jat clan found in Pakistan.

Origin

History

Gangal (गंगाल) is a rare gotra in the Jat community. In J&K UT Gangal gotra (Jat) is found in only one Tehsil Nowshera which is at the border of Pak-india.

The history of Gangal Gotra reveals that their forefathers migrated from Ganganagar (Rajasthan) about three centuries ago. As in Punjab most of the JAT's gotra are based on the name of their villages. Likewise, Gangal gotra has been derived from the original place of residence of their forefathers.

As on date Gangal gotra Jat are in majority among other gotra Jats in Nowshera Tehsil. The total strength of the Jat community in this Tehsil is nearing 15000.
