Goyat (गोयत)[1] [2] Gohel(गोहेल) is gotra of Jats in Haryana.



Some elderly person of Goyat Gotra say that all Goyats first came to Kungar (Bhiwani) village first and then spread to other parts of Haryana like Narwana and villages like Kapro, Jhanj, Kalsora, Nathori, Shergarh Tapu, Shergarh Nathori in Karnal ...Goyats came to Kungar (Bhiwani) from hills of Dhosi situated in Rajasthan.

Sub divisions of Chauhan

Bhim Singh Dahiya[3] provides us list of Jat clans who were supporters of the Chauhan when they gained political ascendancy. The Goyat clan supported the ascendant clan Chauhan and become part of a political confederacy.[4]

Goyat are found in Districts Bhiwani, Jind, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal in Haryana. In some places they use the title 'Chopra'. Found in Maharashtra, where they are known as Gohel.Jat people of Goyat gotra started calling themselve Budhrain in name of Chaudhary of who led them village Kalsora and 6 more villages distt. Karnal Yamuna river region of Haryana in the period of 16 th or 17th century. Goyat is one village as well in Madhya Pradesh.
