Ghuman

Ghuman (घुमन) or Gumar (गुमर) is a gotra of Jats. They are ancient Gumer or Gimir, the Cimmerians of ancient Greek. It seems, the Gumar and Ghuman are the same.
History
A people named Kuman are mentioned in the Matsya Purana. But they are shown in the south perhaps erroneously. A person named Gomana, an architect is mentioned in a Kushana inscription [1] Ptolemy mentions a people called Khomar, and their country called Khomaroi. [2]
Distribution
Ghummans have population of 15,600 in Patiala district. This clan owns 11 villages around Bhawanigarh and Ghumana in the Rajpura sub-district and one village in the Patiala sub-district.[3]
Ghummans are there in 372 number in Amritsar district also.[4]
