Jyoti Mirdha

Dr. Jyoti Mirdha (Born: 26 July 1972) is the Congress MP from Nagaur parliamentary constituency elected in general elections 2009.

She is a doctor by profession and is daughter of Shri Ramprakash Mirdha , grand daugher of Famous politician Shri Nathu Ram Mirdha. She has been elected to 15th Lok Sabha from Nagaur.


A 1996 MBBS graduate from Jaipur-based SMS Medical College and married to Shri Narender Gehlaut in the year 2000, she is the mother of one son. Thought she is new in politics, her upbringing has helped her learn the real-life challenges of it.

"I belong to a traditional political family, where I learnt about commitment and contribution to rural upliftment and welfare of the farmer class," says Jyoti.

She attributes the trend of passing the baton to daughters in Jat families mainly to high level of awareness. "Jats are not only known for their political awareness but also for egalitarian life in which women in the family get equal status," she added.

She and her uncle Shri Richpal Singh Mirdha continous four times MLA from Degana are the present leaders from "BABA's"' family.
