Maroth is a town Situated in Nawan tehsil of Nagaur District in Marwar, 11 kms away from Nawan & 11 kms away from the Kuchaman Road railway station. PIN - 341507, STD Code - 01586-770. Population as of 2001 is 9074 out of them 2198 are SC and 134 ST. Coordinates N 27.15 E 75.26
History
Maroth is associated with the history of Dahiya and Karwasra Jat clans. Karwasra gotra gets name from their most prominent ruler Karhwa Rao.[1] A rock inscription inscribed by his grandson was found in village Mangalata in district of Maroth in Jodhpur princely state, in which they have been called as Dahiyas. It was inscribed in 1215 AD and has been referred to in the book 'Indians in the Cauvery' on pages 87 and 88.
Jats of Karwasra, Karwa, Bhagasra and Dahiya gotras are considered as brothers and marriages are not allowed among each of these gotras.
