Shaheed Kavi Mehar Singh famously known as Fauji Mehar Singh was a famous poet from Haryana. He was born in village Barona in Haryana. Shaheed Kavi Mehar Singh Samarak Samiti Barona was got registered in memory of late shree Mehar Singh, about eight years back. Under the samiti,these major activities are being regularly done in village Barona, Haryana:
- 15 Feb Is celebrated as a day in Memory of Mehar Singh and a Ragani Programme is done every year.
- A school children programme on November 14 is organised every year.
- A Health Camp, once in a year is organised in which retired doctors and working doctors of PGIMS Rohtak participate on voluntary basis.
- A book of writings (Ragni’s ) of Mehar Singh has been published by the Samiti.
- A Statue of Mehar Singh has been installed in 2 acres land donated by the Panchayat of the village. Otherwise a health camp is being organised once in 2 months.
