N.L. Poonia

Brigadier N.L. Poonia, a resident of village Sindhvi-Khera, Jind, is a Sena Medal awardee of 1965 Indo-Pak war. He did his schooling from Lawrence School, Sanawar, and King Georges, Ajmer.

An alumni of National Defence Academy, Kharakvasla, he is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and holds a M.Sc.degree in Defence Studies.

He commanded 19 Grenadiers, (which captured Tiger Hill in the Kargil war) and an operational brigade in the desert. During his service, he was actively associated in the process of staff selection and promotion of recruits, gentleman cadets, officers, JCOs, other ranks, NCC cadets/officers and civilians.

After retirement in 1996, he was associated with the corporate sector.
