Sahota (सहोता) or Sahote (सहोते) is a gotra of Jats found in Himachal Pradesh. The Puranic expression, “Hūnā Darvā Sahudakā“ contains their name as Sahuda or Sahuta. Their association with Hunas, explains their foreign origin. [1] Sahota are Mentioned as Sahodara, a people, alongwith the Shura, Bhadra (Madra), Bodha, Salva clans in Mahabharata. [2] these people are stated to have taken refuge in the west for fear of jarasandha of Magadha. Again Suhota was the name of a famous king grandson of Bharata.
