Sunny Deol (born as Ajay Singh Deol on October 19, 1956 in New Delhi) is a Bollywood actor and son of legendary actor Dharmendra. He is brother to Bobby Deol and half-brother to Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. He was born in New Delhi, India but is originally from Punjab.
He has won a couple of National Awards for his performances in Ghayal (Injured) (1990) & Damini (1993). He stars in the highest grossing film of Indian cinema, Gadar - Ek Prem Katha (2001). His other major hits include his debut film Betaab (1983), Arjun (1985), Paap Ki Duniya (1988), Tridev (1989), Chaalbaaz (1989), Darr (Fear) (1993), Jeet (Victory) (1996), Ghatak (1996), Ziddi (1997), Border (1997) & Indian (2001).
Sunny Deol has been associated with accomplished directors like Rahul Rawail (Betaab, Arjun, Samundar, Dacait & Arjun Pandit), Guddu Dhanoa (Ziddi, Salaakhen, 23 March 1931 Shaheed & Jaal - The Trap), J.P.Dutta (Yateem, Kshatriya & Border), Rajkumar Santoshi (Ghayal, Damini & Ghatak), Rajiv Rai (Tridev & Vishwatma), Anil Sharma (Gadar-Ek Prem Katha & The Hero) & Raj Kanwar (Jeet & Farz).
Sunny Deol tried his hand at direction with Dillagi (1999) starring himself, Bobby Deol & Urmila Matondkar. Though the film was a commercial failure, Sunny Deol's direction was applauded from all quarters.
