Surajmal Memorial Education Society was established in the year 1972 with the objective of providing educational opportunities to the rural youths and to discover and preserve the historical heritage of the rural communities with particular reference to the peasants of North and North-West India.

The Mission
For the fulfillment of its objectives, the Society has established a chain of its Institutes in Maharaja Surajmal Campus at C-4, Janak Puri, New Delhi. The sprawling campus of eight acres has magnificent building for imparting education in the fields of Technology, Pharmacy, Teacher Education, Management and Computer Science. One of the important organs of the Society, Maharaja Surajmal Centre for Research and Publication has been undertaking the collection, preservation and publication of material on rural heritage. The educational complex of the Society has a rich library and a beautiful hostel building having accommodation for housing more than two hundred students and guest rooms for research scholars.
The Research Centre is engaged in intensive study of the primary source on the history of Jats and in updating the prominent works on Jat History under the guidance of Shri Ram Niwas Mirdha. The books published by this Institute are treated as most authentic and reliable in the matters related with Jats and their history.
Surajmal Memorial Education Society intends to explore and conduct research on different aspects of Jat Community. The Society encourages a composite comprehensive study of the Jats who are predominantly based in North and North-West India. The objective of the Society is to study the Jat community not in isolation but in relation to other social groups.
