Location of Thol in Kurukshetra District

Thol is a village in Shahabad tahsil in Kurukshetra district in Haryana. Thol is biggest village of Jats in Kurukshetra distt. of haryana and so many persons remained dignitary from this village.

History

Lord Buddha had visited village thol-kurdi (thul-kut) two times during his life time and had taken the principal of Madhyamika from village Thol which was given by him to the whole of world in his sermons. This incident is narrated in a book of Haryana history authored by Dr. O P Bharadwaj.

Notable persons

  • Choudhry Jagdish Chand remained M.L.A. from 1946 to till death in 1969, except one term from 1962 to 1967. He belonged to Sangra gotra.
  • Late Flying Officer Rajbir Singh Sangra (Retd) served the Indian Air Force being deployed in various war and peacetime missions and made his village proud. His father Late Choudhry Sampurn Singh have been Lambardaar of village Thol.
  • Dr Daljit Singh (Sangwan), MD., DM, Air force, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Medical). Native village - Thol District Kurukshetra, Hariyana. भारतीय सेना में लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल डॉक्टर दलजीत सिंह (सांगवान, मूल निवासी गांव थोल जिला कुरुक्षेत्र हरियाणा) को महानिदेशक चिकित्सा सेवा (डी जी एम एस) का पद भार ग्रहण करने पर बधाई एवं शुभकामनाएं ।
