I highly recommend the Industrial Engineering field in lieu of Engineering Management. It is a very powerful degree and allows you to keep a technical focus while broading into areas such as Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Reliability, Industrial Optimization, Management, Finance and Software Development.

Besides the broad resume it builds, you gain tangible skills in shaping and improving organizations, from a technical and a leadership standpoint. This gives you the tools many specialized engineers try to apply but fall short of because they lack the ability to "step out" of the cubicle and use tools that shape large organizations. Often times this impedes promotion. Many CEOs have IE degrees. Check it out.
