Ans 1.

The examination centers for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for the IIT Bombay zone are :

Goa (Panaji), Gujarat (Ahemdabad, Baroda, Rajkot, Surat), Karnataka (Belgaum), Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal, Bhilai, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Raipur, Rewa), Maharashtra (Aurangabad, Amravati, Mumbai South, Mumbai East, Mumbai West, Mumbai Central, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North West, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Nasik, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Thane), Rajasthan (Ajmer, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur).

Ans 2.

The Management Aptitude Test or MAT is the test conducted by All India Management Testing Service for entering into MBA or equivalent post graduate programmes. There are five papers in MAT:
Paper 1 : Language Comprehension
Paper 2 : Mathematical Skills
Paper 3 : Data Analysis
Paper 4 : Intelligence & Critical Reasoning
Paper 5 : Indian & Global Environment Section
MAT is conducted thrice a year in May, September & December. These test scores are acceptable to certain institutes. The list of the institutes accepting the ATS scores can be had from :

Ans 4.

The forms for IIT Kharagpur are available in the month of December every year. The last date for the submission of completed forms in January. The Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) is held in the month of May. The exam results of IIT-JEE is out by June and the session starts in July.

The nationalised banks recruit Bank Probationary Officers (POs) through a competitive exam followed by an interview. Candidate should have a graduation in any discipline. Various regional offices of the Banking Services Recruitment Board (BSRB) conduct the competitive exam as per their advertisement in the major newspapers/employment news.

The competitive exam consists of the following type of objective papers:

English Language
Numerical Ability
Reasoning
General Awareness
In addition, there is another subjective type test of 45 minutes' duration . These tests are conducted in Hindi and English both. Candidate can opt for any medium.

Candidate should be matriculate/10+2 with good academic record or having graduation in any discipline. Various regional offices of the Banking Services Recruitment Board (BSRB) conduct their competitive exam as per their advertisement in the major newspapers/employment news.

The competitive exam consists of the following type of objective papers:

Ans 10.

Bank Probationary Officers are selected on the basis of a written test and an interview conducted by Banking Service Recruitment Board. The POs have a two years probation period during which they perform various banking functions such as loans, foreign exchange, saving and current accounts. Most of the POs reach senior positions such as Deputy Managers or General Managers after about 10 years of service. As a manager, you would be responsible for the functioning of your particular branch. You are the sole incharge of staff welfare, legal matters and profit margins.

While seniority is one of the major considerations for promotion there are also other opportunities of promotions through departmental exam held every 2 or 3 years

Ans 11.

Those persons who aspire to serve the nation, the Armed Forces is the only career. There are written test, interview, group discussions and medical examination for selection to a Permanent Commission or Short Service Commission job in the armed forces. There are also a lateral entry for Engineering Graduates.

The first entry level starts after 12th standard through National Defence Academy Examination (NDA) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to admit cadets to various academies. The second entry level starts after graduation through Combined Defence Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to admit cadets to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy and Officer’s Training Academy (OTA).

Eligibility For IMA:
Unmarried males with Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Age: 19-24 years.

Eligibility For Air Force Academy :
Unmarried males with B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or BE. Age: 19-23 years.

Eligibility For OTA:
Married/unmarried males with Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Age: 19-25 years.

Selection Procedure:
Selection is on the basis of a written exam followed by SSB tests and interview, intelligence and personality tests for those who qualify the written exam.

Written Examination:
The written exam is held at various centers all over the country and consists of three papers for admission to IMA and Air Force Academy. The examination for OTA consists of only the first two papers.

Paper I : English Language
Paper II : Current Events and General Science
Paper III : Numerical Ability (includes arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, mensuration and statistics (of class X-level))

All questions are of objective-type and the papers are set only in English. Each paper is of 2 hrs duration and carries 100 marks.

Engineers probably have a wider variety of jobs than any other profession from a simple bicycle to aero planes and rockets are built by the engineers. There are various fields in Engineering to opt as a career viz. Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Mining Engineering.

Other more recently developed disciplines include Instrumentation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Plastic Technology and Leather Technology. All India Institutes offer campus placements. Engineers can work in their particular field of training or complementary areas. Research and training are other options for those with a Master’s or Ph.D. Engineering graduates can also opt for management, for an added advantage in industry in areas of finance and marketing. They can also start their own business or consultancy.

These engineering courses are available at two levels. Degree and Post Graduate (PG) degree courses offered by the various engineering college and Institute of Technology (IITs) and diploma courses available at polytechnics. Any candidate who has passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), with minimum 55% is eligible to sit for the entrance test for admission to the four-year Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree course.

Ans 13.

There are six Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs) - Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kharagpur, Kanpur and Guwahati, the Institute of Technology (BHU) at Varanasi and the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad conduct joint entrance examination (JEE) for admission.

There is also the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE) which enables working people in the private and public sector or diploma holders to acquire a bachelor’s degree in engineering through distance education for career advancement. After passing AMIE exams, candidates can go for a masters’ or Ph.D programmes. Some institutes also offer a five-year integrated engineering course after 10+2 leading to an M.Sc.

Ans 14.

The students, who enjoy planning for the future, can join Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) at Dera Mandi, Mehrauli, New Delhi. The regular programmes offered by the institute include a two year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Planning and Management of National Economy (PGDPM), three year Integrated programme for undergraduates and Fellowship programme.

The institute has collaborated with International Management Institute (IMI), Europe. In order to provide an exposure to the global business environment, the institute sends its students on a 10-15 day foreign tour to different countries, during the spring-summer session. During the trip, students are taught a special paper on Global Opportunity and Threat Analysis.

Yes, there are lot of career opportunities in Fine Arts fro those who want to pursue a career in fine arts. Fine Arts focus on Painting, Scripting and Applied arts (Commercial Art, Illustration, Visualization). It also include intricacies of graphic art (typography, print), design (interior, textile, mural); metal craft, ceramics and pottery.

Professional training in fine arts can be done through Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA), a four-year degree program segmented into two courses, namely Foundation course (One Year) and Specialization course (Three years). Further professional study can be pursued through a Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) programme usually spanning over two years.

The candidate seeking admission to BFA courses must have passed Senior School Certificate Examination. The intake of students for BFA programme is through an aptitude test.
