.

Do you want to test the GK of Jatlanders?

If I remember correctly, it was Larry Collins (an American) who had written a book about India's Independence Movement, titled "Freedom at Midnight". It was perhaps written sometimes in 1970s (may be during 1975-77 when there was Emergency thumped by Indira Gandhi).

Hi Mukesh

Freedom At Midnight is writen by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre.

The book is about the transition of India from a British Colony to an independent nation on midnight of 15 August 1947. The strongest attribute of this book is the description of the characters and personalities involved. The key players are Mountbatten, Gandhi, Nehru and Jinnah.

As other members have pointed out the authors are brilliant.

I have read Freedom at Midnight and Is Paris Burning. For any Indian the former is a must. It gives much more authentic and truthful account of what happened in the last days leading to independence. Be ready for some shocks as many characters come out to be much less worthy than the Congress education system has been teaching for the last many decades.

That is absolutely true Capt Manjeet. Even though I have not read "Is Peris Burning"? But O'Jerusalem and Freedom at Midnight are outstanding books.
