Hello everyone! Coming back to the good ol' Jatland after quite some time it is a pleasure to see that the strife's and controversies are still managing to be the most popular of the posts and ruling our beloved site! Happy the chain remains unbroken! ;)

And Oh, A Very Happy Republic Day 2006 to everyone… (As usual we nostalgic Indians away from Homeland religiously checked the Parade pictures online and felt good and proud with the rolling out of all the grand pageantry! ) Here is what Miami Herald had to say about ‘This Day in History’ (26th January)

REPUBLIC OF INDIA BORN
January 26, 1950
On January 26, 1950, the Indian constitution takes effect, making the Republic of India the most populous democracy in the world.
Mohandas Gandhi struggled through decades of passive resistance before Britain finally accepted Indian independence. Self-rule had been promised during World War II, but after the war triangular negotiations between Gandhi, the British, and the Muslim League stalled over whether to partition India along religious lines. Eventually, Lord Mountbatten, the viceroy of India, forced through a compromise plan. On August 15, 1947, the former Mogul Empire was divided into the independent nations of India and Pakistan. Gandhi called the agreement the "noblest act of the British nation," but religious strife between Hindus and Muslims soon marred his exhilaration. Hundreds of thousands died, including Gandhi, who was assassinated by a Hindu fanatic in January 1948 during a prayer vigil to an area of Muslim-Hindu violence.

Of course, the most visible thing that stands out from the article is the quote-unquote,’ Noblest Act’… !!! Well wonder why they never really added in there immediately after that sentence - “Hence therefore the ‘Mahatma’ was assassinated immediately after for very obvious reasons!” :o
Anyways, No way this means I am starting another bash the ‘mahatma’ debates…enough of those!… That was just a side note to the Republic Day greetings.

Here is what I am posting on: Mr. Bombay-Vice Daya Nayak! The hero of numerous shootouts with the Bombay (I still prefer that name, thank you! ) underworld and the well known ‘encounter specialist’ seems to be in hot waters himself….. Read on:

You are welcome Sheoran,...

Anyways, while the movie Ab Tak Chappan was impressive; reading this BBC article makes me wonder that while quite frankly cops here in the US are touted as High-school drop outs with lot of brawn and no brains (well, don't quote me on this friends; let's just say that is the 'most popular' perception out there! ;) )...with guns and tasers that they like to use freely, specially on a certain colored people  ........... then try and compare that or imagine all those small time 'supari' specialists etc. in the Bombay underworld who were being popped off like nine-pins, on the behest of maybe a rival gang just because they had the 'encounter' specialist on their pay scale! Scary...

Bhai Shailender,

Media in India is a 'bikau' commodity. There are many underground players( political and senior police officials) surrounding the case involving the investigation, arrest and framing charges against Daya Nayak. The Tirodkar fellow is a journalist who implicated Daya Nayak to dilute the charges against himself in the case he was being interogated.

Now the Investigating agency has leveled charses against Daya Nayak saying that he has wealth amounting to the tune of Rs.45 lacs which is not justifiable considering his known sourses of income. Those who know about property prices in Bombay would agree that you can't buy a 1 bed room flat in Rs.45 lacs in greater Bombay.Bigger lie is that he owns 15 Benami companies.

The fact is that the Ab tAK chhapan list has crossed 80 and they all were criminals. Uski Galti yahi rahi ki usne Safed poss Media aur politicians ko aapna nissana nahi banaya jo har chhoti badi khabar ko 'dramatised' aur
'sensatioalise' karane se baaz nahi aate.

There was another related story on Star News about Inspector Pardeep Sharama, who was to be produced in court on the charges of eliminating acriminal Khawaza Unis. This guy Pardeep sharama has got 150 awards during his tennure as a cop, mostly for cleaning this mess( eliminating the known criminals)

Agar in criminals ko courts ke sahaare chhod diya jata to Daya Nayak aur Pardeep sharama kabke swarg mein pahoonch chuke hote ya phir 'Bhaiyno' ke liye wasooli ka dhandha karte aur 45 lakh nahi, Rs.45 arab kamaa chuke hote.

Pher bhi kehana padega, " mera desh mahaan"

Ha! Ha!...Sahee hai Deshwalji, who knows what the truth is. Per ek baat to aapko bhi maannee padegee; media is an intirely different animal in our Country nowadays! It has started exposing a lot of the nexsus that used to happen (and everone knew about but dared not speak) but went unreported or taken into the stride!

Ab jhaan I am sure 10-15% baatein bogus hongee, per phir bhee aajkal Politicians and the corrupt officials are thinking twice before doing things openly anymore. What say?
(Sure it is unfortunate that some part of the media and press would exploit this new found power for all the wrong reasons!)

It is said that nowadays you should walk around with a 'press/media' business card for emergencies or when caught in a tight situation anywhere in India! ;) (well, actually I am just quoting this as something I heard jokingly or otherwise on my recent visit to India, but really sums up in a nut shell what we are talking about here!)
