I know its an old method but I have been using this technique for quite some time now.
So thought of sharing with others with the help of a visual tutorial.

Here it goes:

This is a very quick way to determine the quality of the movies which are split into multiple rar files by the posters.

First, you will need two pieces of software.

WinRAR
VLC Media Player

1. Download the very first rar file in a set.
2. Right click on the file after its downloaded and select "extract files"

You will see this screen -

3. Tick the box that says Keep broken files. Then click OK.

Winrar will unrar the first rar file and then give an error that it could not find the 2nd rar in the series.

4. Click cancel/ok.

Now you will see a new folder wherever you unrared the zip. Inside the folder will be a fragment of the movie. (This will not play in WMP.)

5. Open the fragment with VLC media player and check if the quality is to your liking.

Easy, but effective way to save yourself the hassle of downloading a crappy vid
