Make Ur own Windows Shut Down Timer

Here it goes :

Step 1.
Right Click on your desktop and Select "New -> Shortcut".

Step 2.
In the box that says "Type the location of the item",
type in
"shutdown -s -t 120"
without the quotation marks and click next.

Note Exclamation 120 are the amount of seconds before your
computer shuts down. i.e.= 2 Min.
& ofcourse U can change that time according 2 Ur preference but Always
Convert it into Seconds. If u want ur PC 2 Shutdown after 1 Hour i.e. 60 Mins,
Simply multiply it wid Seconds (60mins*60Secs=3600secs) So, Now U'll have 2 put
3600 instead of 120 in da above code.

Step 3.
Make up a name for the shortcut and you're done.
You can change the icon by right clicking->properities->change icon-> browse.

Now when U'll Click that Shortcut Ur Shutdown Timer Will start Automatically Wink

More Info:
To abort the shutdown timer just create another shortcut
and make the "location of the item" to
"shutdown -a"
without the quotes.

how will u configure it for shutdown after xxxxxxx seconds???If you say 5, 10 20 then its ot possible but they give you many pre detrmined options, which depend on your activity also, you can choose many options like turn of hard disk, swith off monitor etc.

For shut down just press the power button after setting it in advanced option..I donot see any point in clicking the shut down short cut and then watching the countdown for xxxxx seconds like a fool, when you are done just press the power button...but to pat your own back your idea is good.

anyway thats all that i know nothing more and thanks for the information though.

Hi Ravinder,

Initialy I took it lightly and then I thought lets try this. I started the shutdown and then I wanted to try and stop it and created the abort shortcut. You know what the abort may have higher importance in some cases.

The WIN32 BLAST VIRUS starts the shutdown count as does the process told by you. I think the abort process can prevent shutdown by WIN32 Blast virus...though I cound not chek it as I donot have the virus in m system.but it looks it can be the temperary cure till you remove the virus by some anti virus.

Now tell me how to infect my system with win32 blast virus...I want to check it as once this virus gave me a lot of problem.

Thanks for the information again.
