Dear friends,
i stopped writing poems long back but today i just sat down and felt like penning this poem which had been running in my mind for long.

Pehchaan

Pathar pade paani me lehar usme uthaae,
aag bujhane hawaa chale aur use bhadkaay,
Jaat mara tab jaaniye jab terahvi ho jaay

Vivek ko apni shakti banaa, sanyamm ko kar prabal
Vikat sthiti me rah apne usoolon par tu adig achal
Jo chalta raha toofanon me, apni manzil ko ant me wo hi to paayega

Sankat jiski shakti bane, aandhi na jisko hilaay
Jaat mara tab jaaniye jab terahvi ho jaay

Jazba, josh, junoon, jatan, ye jo teri pahchaan hai
Wo insaan kya jise apne hone par nahin abhimaan hai
Char din aage, char din peechhe, har koi mitti me mil jaayega
Char din me jo kar gaya kuchh, wo hi to mahaan kahlaayega

Na Karen vichalit, mushkilen na jisko jhukaay
Haar jis se haar gayi soche bahut upaay
Jaat mara tab jaaniye jab terahvi ho jaay

(This post is in Devanagari script. If there is difficulty in reading the text, there is need to install ‘Mangal’ font (http://vedantijeevan.com:9700/font.htm).)

.

Nice...

However, at least the first three lines seem to be borrowed.
I first heard them in Kamal Hasan's movie Ahbay. I believe they
exist in our literature somewhere.

yes, the first three lines are taken from the film 'abhay'. Ever since i heard those lines i wanted to write a poem on it.
The line 'Jat mara tab jaaniye jab terahvi ho jaay' is a very old kahaavat.
I think every one would be aware about it else i would ve declared it at the begining of the thread.
It was just a thought about being proud about oneself which i wanted to share with everyone.
The remaining lines are written by me and i have no problems if they are claimed by anyone else.
Regards
thanks every one for the appreciation too. the thoughts should be communicated, thats all

Yes Navin, you are right.
It is a very old saying and it was said by najaf(in the court of delhi) when he got the news that Maharaja Surajmal has sacrificed his life in a battle then he said "Don't believe a Jat to be dead untill his thirteen day ceremony is over"

and nice composition
