Your gotra is very dear to you and so is your village. You will like to have both these on Jatland Wiki. Every Jatland member is at least expected to add info about his gotra and village along with district in concerned Gotra, so that we can have correct Data Base of Gotras and their distribution. This will help to reconstruct Jat history because it is Jat gotra that preserved your history. Gotras are being regularly updated by members themselves or Wiki moderators based on available info. We have tried to write Gotra both in Hindi and English. If see any error correct it.

How to edit your Gotra

Go to this page about gotra and add your entry

http://www.jatland.com/home/Jat_Gotras

Gotra in blue colour indicates there is info existing on this. See if your village name reflects on it or not. If not you have to simply do this thing. For example you are from Virpur village in Sonipat district in Haryana. Add like this to your Gotra page:

==Villages in Sonipat district==
Virpur,

At the bottom put following category
[[Category:Haryana]]
[[Category:Gotras in Sonipat]]

After this preview and if added correctly save this. Then you see what comes out !!!
Check if this gotra appears in other pages also by clicking What links here on left navigation pannel.

Try now !!!

Hi Praveen,

Can you expand article of your gotra Malhan on Jatland Wiki. If you are not comfortable with Wiki editing you can put info here also so that it can be incorporated in this article. Any info about its history or distribution you can add to it.

Interested members may please visit Jatland Wiki’s section Books on Jat History (http://www.jatland.com/home/Books_on_Jat_History) at regular intervals. Shortly, under its sub-section Arya Samaj Literature (http://www.jatland.com/home/Arya_Samaj_Literature), you would find some interesting literature. In fact, the full text of a short book (लघुग्रन्थ) in Hindi (आर्य्योद्देश्यरत्नमाला) written by Swami Dayanand has been added by me recently and another important book by Swamiji, Gokarunanidhi (गोकरुणानिधि) will be available shortly. No other website contains these precious pieces of literature as of date.

Please make Jatland richer by your contributions in Wiki pages. Discussions forums have a different purpose.

Many of you must have heard about Ram Prasad Bismil but know very little about him. Ram Prasad (his poetic name 'Bismil') was a great revolutionary, scholar, poet and a source of inspiration for Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Chandrasekhar Azad and other revolutionaries. It was Ram Prasad who wrote a famous poem with the following lines in the beginning:

British Government hanged him to death on 19 December 1927. Ram Prasad wrote his autobiography (in Hindi) in Gorakhpur jail, a few days prior to his hanging to death. On 18 December 1927, his mother, along with Ram Prasad's close associate Shiv Verma, came to meet him in jail and offered him home-made food in a tiffin box. Ram Prasad handed over his hand-written pages to Shiv Verma who hid these in the empty tiffin-box. Hence the manuscript went out of jail. Shiv Verma kept these pages with him carefully but could not get these published in British times. After Independence in 1947, this autobiography of Ram Prasad was published by some Arya Samaj outfits, including at Gurukul Jhajjar (Haryana), but it is not easily available in market, nor on any website. Some of the personal belongings of Ram Prasad 'Bismil' are today kept at the Haryana Archaeological Museum, Gurukul Jhajjar.

The autobiography of Ram Prasad is an inspiration for youngmen and I feel everyone should read it. Currently, I am busy in preparing the electronic text of this rare book and it will soon be available on Jatland Wiki. From me, it would be a tribute to this great man on his 80th death anniversary (19 December 2007) and a gift to this site and the fellow members.

http://www.google.com/transliterate/indic/
