Experiences are part of life, or I should say Life's an experience. Experiences may be good or bad depending on the concequences. But from every experience, we learn something. I personally feel, we learn more from bad experiences. Such kinda experiences or failures in life help us improve for the better. We learn to be more tolerant. Recently I read a book and qouted something from that, which says, Failure is one of the most important ingredient for Success. Thou' its the most painful, but to be really successful, you must face failure. You have to experience it, feel it, taste it, suffer it. Only then you can shine. For once you taste failure, you have no fear. you can take risks more easily. then you don't want to snuggle in your comfort zone anymore-you are ready to fly. And success is about flying, not snuggling. So never be afraid of failures. If it has come your way, it means God wants to give you a real shot at being successful later. Winning always may keep us away from many risks of life, but as well then it ll keep us ignorant of many very important aspects of life and behavior. So when you face a failure next time, dont blame God for the difficult time,,,rather look ahead for the shining glories which have already set the stage for you. AS OLD SAYING "FAILURES ARE THE STEPPING STONES OF SUCCESS".:)
What do you say.....?

Neelam its true what u said but its very difficult to follow Bcoz society cares only for succesful people and unsuccesful r considered as "Dharti ke Bojh".
Now a days its succes that matters in whatever way it is.

Believe me, failures scare you only till you face them. Once you are through them, they fill you with a new energy n courage. Heard the saying, COME WHAT MAY....this kind of strength to deal with situations they provide us. Thou' it is very important to cope with the failures in life. Agreed society ll leave no stone unturned to make you realize that you are "Dharti Ke Bojh"... 'Good for Nothing',,,but its the real test of your strengths, your self confidence. When we face failure for quite a time, self-confidence starts shattering, more so becus the insignificant others around us make us feel more negatively. This whole scenario works as a disease of soul, when you aren't successful for long enough and to worsen it you have such peaple around you who keep you realizing that you are a loser, you start doubting yourself even though you know this is not your fault. The situation can worsen even more when the guilt comes, and the person developes learned helplessness. Person becomes hundred percent convinced that he's Good for Nothing. And here you loose all your confidence. Don't be scared in such times, and you ll get your confidence back. In such times it is very important to maintain the self belief, to keep believing in oneself, ones potential, his abilities, and the faith that success may be far, may be difficult to attain; but not unattainable. Self-confidence is equally important for success.

Of course you ll face rough weather, turbulence and much more. However, remember never to give up. Keep your head steady n high and march ahead, success will be yours.

Dr you have summarised this topic very well.Since despite of everything, life always keeps going on.Failures, surely are the catalyst to human nature not accept what he didnot plan on his way.In way they are eye openrs.Precisly if a success filled you with confidence, failures fueled you with dogged determination and zeal to revert it.Like in natural system, unless a organism is not exposed to adverse condition, that does not develop a resistance.Failures seems to nourish that way.Life is like that, its survival of fittest. So race is on and those who have zeal to convert their failures in to success, always win.

here is one poem for the zeal to live.

"Yogyata hi shrestha"

Africa ke vano mein har subah,
Jagta hai ek Hiran,
Vo janta hai ki use daudna hai-
Tej- Sher se bhi Tej,
Anyatha jeevannahi shesh!

Har subah wahi jagta hai!
Ek Sher
Janta hai vo bhi,
Duadna hai use mandhgati hiran se bhi Tej,
Warna bhukh lehi jeevan leel!

Jeevan ki is daud mein tu chahye Hiran ho ya Sher,
Subah hote hi tughe daudna hoga--
Tej aur Tej.

So be it a success or failure, make yourself capable, strong and hence make worth of yourself. Good Luck

Quote :

A Broad Spectrum of light,
Breaks the haze,
Life wakes, spreads wings.
Some rays are doused, some loose sheen,
But resilient ones fight to live.

Peak experiences

"Feelings of limitless horizons opening up to the vision, the feeling of being simultaneously more powerful and also more helpless than one ever was before, the feeling of ecstasy and wonder and awe, the loss of placement in time and space with, finally, the conviction that something extremely important and valuable had happened, so that the subject was to some extent transformed and strengthened even in his daily life by such experiences." Abraham MaslowThink of the most wonderful experience or experiences of your life--the happiest moments, ecstatic moments, moments of rapture, perhaps from being in live, or from listening to music or suddenly "being hit" by a book or a painting or from some great creative moment, a burst of insight, a betrothal, or the birth of a baby.
The mystic experience when individuals usually have experiences in which they literally feel they are floating. They feel very much in tune or at one with the world around them, and almost feel as if they are, for a momentary period in time, part of a different reality. The experience fills the individual with wonder and awe. They have a special flavour of reverance, of humility and surrender before the experience as before something great.
Peak experiences are profound moments in a person's life, sudden feelings of intense happiness and well-being. He feels at one with the world and is pleased with it; he or she has seen the ultimate truth or the essence of all things.Accompanying these experiences is a heightened sense of control over the body and emotions, and a wider sense of awareness, as though one was standing upon a mountaintop.

Thou' rare, but If try to look back into your life, you’ll find some such experience in your life, when you certainly would have thought that you are on the top of the world.

Would appreciate if you think over n come up sharing your such peak experiences in life… even if one in a life, it must have been worth for a life long memory.

Ofcouse, Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.
And Naveen,
"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."

Life is a hierarchy....we keep moving step by step. Growth is also a process of these hierarchies - be it physical, social, emotional, mental, or personal growth.Or call them "paaydaans" of life. One goal attained, we set our aspirations for another aim and mostly a higher one. As the human needs are arranged in a hierarchy, first come the basic biological needs; they satisfied, next come safety needs, we want to preserve for the future; once they are met, we look for love n belongingness, the social n emotional needs. Majority of people reach to this level, next step is of self esteem,,,, when we feel secure in all these lower levels,,, we maintain our self esteem higher than the social esteem. And on the highest level comes, the need for Self-Actualization , i.e. the realization of the potential to the maximum. Every one has a high potential, which hardly one utilizes. Mostly we are entangled with these lower level needs of physical n materialistic grabbing and dealing with personal and social relational issues. Very few people try to explore their selves to the most depths and then to bring it to the reality of action. There are two processes necessary for self-actualization: self exploration and action. The deeper the self exploration, the closer one comes to self-actualization.

There's no limit to the personal growth, Sometimes I wonder, just imagine if some limit is set on the exploration, on the growth, how would be the life??? Most people, if not all, wud be able to reach that limit, then what…… ???
How saturated one wud feel if the capacity to think, to imagine is marked,,… what wud you do if you cant think beyond that capacity……!!!
May be there’ll be lot of anxiety, unrest, discontent, haphazardness, n restlessness.

Thank God, there’s no Limit.

If we cannot think or imagine beyond a capacity, it will actually make people really content as they will know nothing else to be aspired for :). Once they reach that final goal, it will be similar to attaining moksha.

Now, we know thats not possible so we need to keep expanding our imagination, find and reach some other goals beyond materialistic ones, improve our existence rather than simply craving for more money, fame and joy. But alas, we ourselves have restricted our thinking capacity and don't even try to understand the wider reason of our being here - we are so much entangled in our social structure that we would rarely find out more about ourselves. I myself have not been able to do anything though I have thought a lot, imagined a lot - maybe just waiting for a life changing experience :)

Dear Members,

First of all congratulations to Neelam Rathi Ji for starting this thread, and to all of you for contributing to it.

If you are interested in reading, there is a very good book to read, that gives what a failure can get out of you if you analyze it and take actions on it. The book is written by Field Marshall Sir William Slim, titled "Defeat in to Victory". It is basesd on real facts. It is basically the history of 15 Corps in Burma Campaign.

It is an excellent book to read.

Thanks to all for appreciating my effort here.

Today I was going through Prez Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's Autobiography again, n savoured the lines of wisdom once more, then felt like sharing with all. So here'r some quotes from the book (with slight modifications). Hope who have gone thru the book , wont mind reading them again.

"We are all born with a divine fire in us. Our efforts should be to give wings to this fire and fill the world with the glow of its goodness."

" With faith, you can change your destiny."

"To strive to control thy thoughts and thy mind and, through these, to influence thy destiny."

"To succeed in life and achieve results, you must understand and master three mighty forces- desire, belief, and expectation.''

" Let God be your hope, your stay, your guide and provide the lantern for your feet in your journey into the future."

" If come across failure, accept your destiny and go ahead with your life. What you are destined to achieve in future is not revealed now but it is predetermined. Forget this failure, as it was essential to lead you to your destined path. Search, instead, for the true purpose of your existence. Become one with yourself and surrender yourself to the wish of God."

"Once your mind stretches to a new level, it never goes back to its original dimension."

"Those things that hurt instruct!"

"Bread baked without love is a bitter bread that feeds but half a man's hunger,"~Khalil Gibran. Those who cannot work with their hearts achieve but a hollow, half-hearted success that breeds bitterness all around.

"All reasonable men adapt themselves to the world. Only a few unreasonable ones persist in trying to adapt the world to themselves. All progress in the world depends on these unreasonable men and their innovative and often non-conformist actions."

It is true provided one is really keen and determined to learn and succeed, doesnot get discouraged by failures, does not develop inferiority complex, have positive attitude, work hard, have self confidence and go ahead, experience will certainly help. regards
