To lock the folder on Windows XP you need third party tools.
In Windows Vista this facility is available inbuilt in OS.
You can used third party free tools like Lock folder XP, Universal Shield 4.1 etc... bla bla ... too many available on internet free of cost .....

In XP this option is only available for folders included in your user profile. Folders in your user profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, Cookies, and Favorites.
Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties. On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private.
You cannot make your folders private if your drive is not formatted as NTFS.

He wants to lock the folder in WIN XP which is not possible by default in OS.
For that one required 3rd party tool and that means the tool will lock the particular folder with the help of password.
And now he asks how to open the locked folder?

Please let me know your mail i.d. so that I can mail it to you.
