.
The United Nations, formed on 24 October 1945, now seems to have become a bogus organization, playing in the hands of a few powerful nations. I have myself been attached to this organization both at New York and Geneva and feel that this world body has confined itself to celebrating “days” and “events”. The white race (Europeans/ Americans) has moulded these days according to their own choice, much like a commercial activity/ function. No “World Day” is being celebrated during mid-December to mid-January when they are busy in their own Christmas/ New Day celebrations. Here is the complete list of UN events which are useless to most societies, like ours.

All these 'Days' being celebrated are another reason for the employees at UN to have a luncheon, have some wine and cheese, network and discuss ways for other symbolism, that accomplishes nothing but promises them a good time.

the UN today is the back bone of world peace, in sudan if it were not for the UN , a genocide would have already taken place or possibly a civil war in congo , somalia and a war between ethopia an eriteria, the UN troops are risking thier lives in africa to maitain peace in the region.
one realy cant understand the magnitude of the UN contribution towards peace in africa by sitting in new york or geneva.

so many organozations like WHO ,unicef, HR,ICRC ARE DOING A WONDER FUL JOB in the region here. UN IS providing employment to millons of africans who otherwise would have starved to death.
the local population of africa is so dependent on the UN for peace an employment that they dont want the UN TO TO LEAVE THIER RESPECTIVE COUNTARIES.

will further elabrote the contribution of UN after some of u take me to task for siding with the UN

United nations can only effective in those areas where USA is strong...
see the situation in BURMA .. USA is not strong enough to oppose chinese aggression in BURMA ..
United nation is simply requesting india and china to control situation in burma..

UN is corrupt from top to bottom. UN has not provided employment to millions or even thousands of poor africans, only some politically connected hundreds of africans.

Muhammad Hassan, an employee of the World Meteorological Organization, embezzled at least $3 million from the UN-affiliated organization over a preiod of three to four years. Now he has gone underground and a woman who says she's Hassan's wife has filed a phony death certificate.

UN peacekeepers in Congo have abused Congolese women and girls in exhcange for food or small amounts of money.

Kofi Annan's own son has been implicated in a $10 billion oil for food scandal, but it was hushed up.

UN has not been able to prevent any conflict. It would be interesting to see the accounting, and on how much monies actually goes on administration and salaries versus aid. However, that is not possible for anyone to do, as UN is its own entity and not accountable to anyone.

Its about as useful as the now defunct League of Nations.

the un is giving employment to the common people plz come an see for your self here in ethopia an eriteria, there are thousands of locals employed by the UN here ,IN THE UN hq at asmara n addis 70pc are local staff with good salary, the rent which the UN pays for its hq building in asmara is 85,000$ an wherever the mil obsververs are campng min rent is 15,000$ an there are no of places where they stay,.

one should not site odd instances of rape. plz see the bigger pic, doesn,t rape cases happen every where,am not justifyng the instances, they were wrong, but dont hold the entire UN responsible for it. the UN happens to be repersented by india also in congo an in some cases it were the indian troops who were on the wrong side of the law, the UN cant be blamed for that.

the UN is averting BREAKOUT OF A MAJOR WAR beetwen ethopia an eriteria for the last 5 yrs, an also genocide in somalia an civil war in sudan an darfur region where the might of the indian army is deployed
an fighting the guirellas. i hapen to visit these places an saw my self the efforts of the UN TOWARDS peace in the region.

one odd instances of coruption cannot make the un defunct they are part an parcel of every countary.

It would be interesting to see how much administrative cost was incurred for that work in Ethopia. You do not need the mega organization with huge number of employees getting paid handsome wages in some of the costliest cities in the world to do the work that organizations like Red Cross could do for 1/100th of the cost (and it may be argued that Red Cross is a bloated organization too).

There are scores of UN aid or relief agencies which could easily be clubbed into one single agency. One of those, World Food Programme, is working mainly in Africa and believe it or not, in India too - though at a low scale. See the list of countries at the WFP website:

http://www.wfp.org/country_brief/index_region.asp (http://www.wfp.org/country_brief/index_region.asp)

And top posts in these agencies are occupied by white Westerners – a good source of employment and enjoyment (touring all over the world) for them !!

Since today is 24 October and UN's 63rd birthday, I thought of writing this post. Please have a thought - the main purpose of creating of this world body was to stop wars and to bring peace to the globe. Has it achieved this goal? Yes, only to a limited extent, not fully. The cost is so high ! Small scale wars are still going on. The selfish interests of a few powerful nations have overpowered this organisation.
