Kishan Kumar Ji,
This storyline of a farmer family depicts high handedness of big Industrial Houses in connivance of local and central government. Why government is using dracunian law of land acquesition against poor farmers? Agricultural land is only means of livelyhood. How government in demcratic country can snatch away means of livelyhood of poor for the benefit of industrialists? Can anybody tell, why this industrilisation activities are going on near Delhi and other Metro cities? Fertile lands are being converted into concrete jungle. We have to get united to protect legitemate rights of fellow farmers where our roots lie. Come one and all to join hands against concritisation of FERTILE LAND.

Dear Pawariya,
You can’t entirely blame the govt. and industrialists. Situation is rather complicated, at least the price of land has increased dramatically in last couple of years and it’s good thing for farmers. Many farmers are also desperate to sell their land. There are many reasons for it, mainly the debts, buying cheaper land in neighboring states, concerns about the prices if acquired by govt. and some are just following the trend if neighbors are selling they can’t wait. Farmer themselves are going to SEZ offices with “FARD” (Land papers) to sell their land.

At present they are getting fairly good price, I suppose 22 Lacs@acre or something like that, but problem for them is where to invest this money. They don’t know any other occupation. See the situations of farmers around Gurgaon who sold their land two decades back, now most of them are either milkmen (Dudhia) or driving the auto-rickshaws. The price they got per acre that time, now can’t buy a plot in that money. Go to Delhi airport you will see the landless farmer are working as “coolies” carrying the luggage to planes in tractors-trolleys.

I doubt locals will find proper jobs in SEZ. Industries around Gurgaon and on NH-8 don’t recruit locals for blue-color job because they are more tend to make unions and strikes, for white color jobs rural youths are not qualified.

Kishan Ji,
You are right in your observation that some of farmers are desperate to sell their lands and are queing up at the doors of SEZ owner's offices with land papers. Your point that price offered by Industrialists may be fairly good enough. Have we ever ponder upon consequences of large population taken out of farming activities and having no alternate skills to earn livelihood? Large tract of agrable fertile land becoming concrete jungle. I think this will only lead to new form of social inequality and tensions. Are you not seeing how crime rate has increased at alarming level in and around delhi and NCR? I am not agaist SEZ or Industrialisation. Proper studies are required before adopting foreign models of developments. Why we should spoil our fertile land when we have plenty of baren land. Why these Industrialists can't develop those non fertile areas? In my considered opinion, SEZs are used as mask to acquare valuable land of poor farmers. We should aware our village brethern about the disastrous consquences of selling their agricultural land. This will not only uproot them but may break social fabric. Shortsightedness and greed will result in bleek and dark future. We all should ponder upon this new situation (problem) before it is too late to act.
