Reserve 80% jobs for Maharashtrians: MNS to pvt sector

Last Updated: April 09, 2008 20:16 IST
Two months after targetting north Indian migrants, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has raked up son-of-the soil issue demanding 80 per cent job reservation for Marathi-speaking locals in private sector. The MNS threatened to launch agitation if this was not done, drawing strong protest from the industries.

"The Maharashtra Navnirman Kamgar Sena, the workers' union floated by MNS, is writing letters to 45,000 industries in Maharashtra to ensure 80 per cent reservation for local Marathi people," Manoj Chavan, Chief Cordinator of the party, told PTI.

The MNS also warned the industries that if this was not done then they would launch an agitation. The MNS move has drawn the protest of the industries which contended such a stand violated fundamental rights of Indians.

"We oppose any such move since it violates the fundamental rights of Indian citizens to stay anywhere in the country and practice the vocation they want," Sushil Kumar Jiwaraka, Ficci's Western Region chief, said.

"People from all walks of life and from different regions of the country have contributed to Mumbai's success," he said.

"Therefore, they have an equal claim to jobs in Mumbai. Today's statement is a very divisive statement to make," he added.

The MNS leader said letters have already been sent to several industries demanding job reservation for Marathi people.

The MNS had in February targetted north Indians settled in Maharashtra.

Is there any one in India who can Gag these dirty minded cheap people who are responsible for Shame of other maharashtrians.

The country has already been divided on the bases of religion, then on the basis of Cast, then language and now its on the basis of region.

All these people who are demanding these kind of reservations and creating a situation of insecurity will be put behind the bars for atleast 10 years with their leaders and then put them in a work to create roads in the other states under extreme conditions.

This is again a situation like demand of Khalistan earlier in Punjab now its in maharashtra. If the Govt. remain silent then we have to be ready to see a blood battle this time Maharashtra ... this is the beginning...................

Government needs to amend the CPC and tougher punishment should be awarded for creating a wall of separation between citizens of the country on the basis of casts, religion, provincial/regionalism etc. Judiciary of High Court and Supreme Court should also come forward to create jurisprudence so that it becomes easy for lower courts to deal with such matters. There should be priority in courts to process matters concerning unity and integrity of the nation.

This is stupid on so many levels. Lets say that this idiocy happens in a parallel universe inhabited by retards, the private sector will simply move to other states.

i have an engineering factory in pune and am facing this problem for almost 3 months now. the business is literally screwed. but that is one part of the story, let us look at the other parts as well.
this issue disturbs me more as a north indian and less as a businessman. there are deeper issues here,i am trying to address them to the best of my potential:
1. this reaction by MNS is not whole heartedly supported by maharashtrians because ultimately its the maharashtrian who are being effected due to closure of factories. the industrial confidence is shaken. small companies like us are giving a second thought to our expansion projects.

2. These two communities namely bhaiyas & biharies are notoriously famous for maligning the social security environment of any place be it Mumbai or the delhi NCR area.
Can't we safely generalise this to around 60% of us north indians?? someone can contest my statement and the debate will go on for centuries. My only question to all of us is, WHY NORTH INDIA IS NOT AS INDUSTIALLY OR SOCIALLY DEVELOPED AS THE WESTERN OR SOUTHERN INDIA IS. the reason is our horrible social security situation.
companies are now investing in North india not because they like this part of the country its just that the other parts of the country are not affordable anymore. our land is not a choice but its a compulsion for them.

3. Let us get back to our main issue of MNS, although all the north indians are effected but the dislike is more for the bhaiya and bihari community.
They are disliked by the locals for the simple reason that they WORK MORE
FOR LESS PAY. they have brought down the average daily wage to Rs 80/- per 8 hrs. this has made life difficult for the locals. we all now that even in the villages the average wage per day is around Rs 125 to Rs 150/- per 8 hrs along with food. its only a matter of chance that these people have come to maharashtra had they come to haryana, rajasthan or western UP they would have met with the same treatment.

4. Although it would hurt my interest as a businessman i think i have a small advise to solve this problem. THE MINIMUM WAGE SHOULD BE DECIDED AND ENFORCED BY THE GOVERNMENT. THE COMPANIES SHOULD BE MADE TO COMPLY WITH IT.

I think once this is implemented then there would be no question of anyone
snatching job opportunities on salary criteria.

Let the criteria for hiring be skills and not lesser pay demanded. Although it would initially look expensive but very soon the positive results will start showing up.
As the disposable income of these people will increase not only will their life standard improve in terms of healthcare & education but also this money will come back into economy as they will be spending more as a result of higher disposable income.

We should ignore the politicians who are talking about self respect or pride of north indian. Ask these buggers what are they doing when hindi speaking people are being massacred in north east. they even do not dare to condemn the incidence.

All said and done, i would like to mention the fact that maharashtrians are not an aggressive community and certainly not more than us ;).

bhai sanjeet...ap chinta mat karo...yaha koi esi pralay nahi ayi hae...baki meri likhi ramayan ap upar padhlo....
yaha maharashtra mein jab tak balasaheb thackrey aur sharad pawar nahi chahenge kuch nahi hoga aur jis din vo kuchh karna chahengey us din yeh amar singh or lalu jese ttuche log unhe rok bhi nahi paengey....they are absolute power centres in maharastra. there politics and power is far beyond lalu or amar singh's imagination....let us call a spade a spade aur yakin nahi ata to BCCI/dalmia ka hal dekhlo...
maharashtra & gujarat both have a very sensible, progressive and level headed political leadership. the result is evident from the progress of these two states.

saaf shabdo mein kahu to suno....shiv sena hae balasaheb ki...gaddi ke kabil tha bhatija lekin putra moh to chhut-ta nahi...isliye bhatije to diya vanvas or beta ko banaya raja....sharad power is an old friend of balasaheb JAI-VEERU TYPES...you can nowhere find illustration where they have said a single derogatory word about each other.
ab compromise yeh hua ki raj thackrey ko uski party khadi karne mein help karni hae...isliye sab chup bedhe hae...had it been for someone else in place of Raj thackrey i.e. nephew of balasaheb to ab tak sharad pawar uska band baja chuka hota
apne JATTO ke liye yaha koi khatra nahi hae, baki ap chinta mat karo....MAINE HU NA:)

I think MNS is not portraying the correct ideology. It is trying to repeat the history when Shivsena targeted the southindians and same Raj Thackeray is also repeating here nothing else. If he really wants the navnirman of Maharastra then he should try to unite people instead of dividing on caste and creed. He should not forget that first he is an Indian then being Marathi or Punjabi or Haryanavi is his second identity. India is socialist soveriegn republic which he should remember which proclaims equal rights to all its citizens. So next time when he thinks of raking up the son of the soil issue for his benefit he should throughly read the constitution and the rights of the citizen of India. He should also make it clear how he is helping the so called sons of soil to get better employment opportunities.... :)

Maniisha ji Raj Thackeray knows every thing whatever you have written here. They only look for self interest and that too for short term. These persons are not loyal to even their close friends and I must say that loyalty towards nation is not even close them.

In my opinion we experiancing the extreme point of dirty politics. Politicians always play their dirty game but this time around it is very unfortunate that no. of people who will be effected are very high.Whatever is being done by MNS will lead the state of Maharashtra in deep trouble. I hope that people of Maharashtra will teach Raj a good lesson in the forthcoming Assembly Election. Till then we all north Indian should wait and watch.
