General Happiness
The victors were jubiliant, with their medals
The vanquished were busy, counting their dead
The widow got a pension and three daughters
The arms-peddlers got bullion instead

Beauty
A yellow bird just fluttered across
the alphonso trees to the yellow sand
waves tickle the keels of fishing boats and
the stone-crusher readies her child for class

Ghosts
Should have known better than to chase the wind
Just ashes of the memories left in the end
Suppressed, but never died
Love: - deep, denied and dignified

Journey
From Pokhara in Nepal to Kamathipura in Hell
Sagarmatha’s cornices to a ten by eight hovel
Life has indeed travelled a long way
For this young dark-eyed girl

Efficiency
The mob dragged her out to garland with a burning tyre
A lone voice from the back cried “ Stop there !”
They fumed “who is this Gandhi ka chela ?” , mad with blood-thirst
“….er , I was just saying ,why not rape her first ? “

Retribution
The petty bourgeois employs the nine year old
Working him hard, serving leftovers cold
‘ May God bless you, just as He may see
may your child work for a faceless MNC ‘

Hey Amit,
These are very special poems and you manage to say so much in such little space that I wonder why I have to use so many words say something that you convey with such economy of language. Keep it coming little brother and soon I'll persuade the poetry society to produce an anthology of Modern Jat Poetry.
Affectionate regards
