View Full Version : Are organisations really working for society (a part of responsibility)

Let me first write some Management Tactics adopted by great organisational people...

Finance Expert.....looks for his considerations first (says it a practical approach).....paise mein itna uljha hai ki baaki sab kuch bhool gaya hai

Marketing Expert....anyhow brainwash and influence people (arouse the need)

HRM Expert's tacts.....manipulate as much as u can (emotions are the tool)

Production specialised.....considers quantity and cost (receipts will be dealt by smart marketers :D)

but, where is the basic requirement missing.....VALUES & ETHICS????????

if people will enter the organisations with above mentioned approaches then how will the values and ethics be sustained in these organisations and will provide the best to the society not only the products, but also the satisfaction, healthy life, etc. etc.

maintaining values and ethics in the system is a very challengeable task and no individual is ready to follow the same as .....'main pahle, meri family aur fir baad mein aata hai mera desh' jaisi approach nahin badal rahi (comparison with individual aur paisa to usse satisfy hone nahin dega)

when the defects are prevailing inside the system then how will it benefit the society??????

though, there are few which can be listed in the favourable list like Tata's Group, IBM, etc. etc. (baaki ke naam dhyan nahin aa rahe :D), but....

what about the other organisations who are not paying full considerations for its society?????
what about every individual's responsibilty towards it who is working with the organisation????
what about those promises made by the people before initiating any major work????

all these words-consideration, responsibilty, promise, etc. are mere congregation of alphabets or really carry some meaningful thoughts in relation with society????

Ofcourse not!!(money is everybody's requirement to buy the basic necessities.....but i don't like to earn it at the cost of my principles and values and not forgetting the dignity (most important)

profit making, getting better returns than investments, raising the position at higher level, etc. are everybody's concerns at job but how much and what way u put yourself into any job is all which defines ur personality and inclination of ur thoughts

i never like to appreciate money making machines who lose their basic principles of life and make it vulnerable for others in an indirect manner just to earn their luxuries......even school/college education today is assumed as high profitable business just b'coz of some money making machines (morals, disciplines and character formation are none of their business).....so pathetic it is :(

That's true that all of us are working for money but it depends, either u r earning with ur ethics or without.

ya, and that evaluates the value of a person and the goodwill of an organisation in its broader sense

Hi Neelam ji ,

I appreciate the topic you have come up with.

I have been working on changing my approach from dwelling on problem a lot to more of a solution centric and implementation based.

Here are my 2 cents on how to convert this attitude into something that is benefitting to the society at large.

1. What I have noticed is that because of the kind of culture that is there , there is an inherent guilt associated.

2. We must work towards striking on that guilt , though the work is already made easy by the already going programmes at the organisations , Almost all organisations these days have some kind of a program to contribute back to the society ( Thanks to the creative HRs and other people who get paid for suggesting such ideas ). The benefit to the organisation is two fold , it presents a nice face to the people and is a good publicity stunt as well , also it helps to wipe out that inherent guilt.

3. Present day generation has a lot of responsibility to take the society towards a better world and I am very hopeful because I have come across many youth who are dedicated to make it big when it comes to serving the society or doing something very nice.

4. On the implementation part , we must use our strengths to our and the societal advantage , We all are educated , level headed and good arguers and I really dont think that we will have a hard time inculcating that feeling and idea among the senior management of any company to start contributing something abck to the society. And we can utilise that corporate support to do some good to the society.

5. I have discussed with NAvin and other people who share a similar vision , our roles are of a facilitator / interface to divert the resources from the willing to the needy.

I would appreciate if you can appreciate the above points , critically analyse these in the light of the present day scenario ( both of what exists in the society , and of what level you and we all are ) and come out with a working plan to best utilise our creative enrgies to do some common good.

Ideally every good and strong idea should lead to implementations ( if u r passionate about it ) , I am doing this on my individual level , If u like it , why not give it a try and also motivate others to do the same.

:)

:)

No doubt, that ur opinion and steps towards any betterment are appreciable :)

and about Navin Gulia, he is one among our worthy members i found here who is really working on his noble ideas.....salutes to all his efforts and dedication, all about which i heard and read here :)

I'll definitely look and work for which u asked me through ur response (to be a part of some change is the best experience of life which i would never wanna miss)

and what insisted me to put-up all the above statements here, was b'coz i wanted to share the general thought of the generation and many experienced also who literally gave some negative cues for my opinions shared during lectures

one lecturer C.A., I.C.W.A. by profession was the one who adviced us just to earn as much money as you can and let the organisation do what it is doing, don't bother about its ethics and other requirements...ditch where u don't get good amount and join where u can multiply it (ethics is just a word written in books...so be practical)....this was his approach, i don't know what way they think about this practical thing (and many other related things i got to know after sharing discussions with all my frens working with different organisations....some in PSUs, MNCs, other LTD. companies)

so here, i shared the thought dwelling in my mind with some brief questions to know about others inclination towards the same.....understanding our own environment is also necessary before getting into any place or job so that we can think and decide which way we need to proceed with our undertakings

only this was my purpose behind starting this thread :)

rest i'm very firm about my principles which i acquired from somewhere or developed on my own :)

Regards
Neelam

Hi Hamendra , You are very true!

Yes our effort should be to make these efforts reach where they ought to be.

Yes , one viewpoint could be that they are doing it , but then what are we doing ? At least we can be those facilitators / supervisors to check whether this indeed is bearing any fruit.

Thats my simple idea.

Hi Neelam , Their ain't any asking , there ain't any assignment , Please get in touch with Navin personally or myself at anilsinghd1@gmail.com and be the pioneer yourslef.

Next , I would not categorise your lecturers as totally out of context , yes resource collection is important , Psychology ( Maslow et all ) names them as basic human existence needs , but one has to draw for himself on how much is sufficient after getting ' how much is necessary'.

Reaching the point of sufficient is important and after that one must always think of contributing back , this is totally in line with personal development viewed as a part( in harmony ) of the total development.:)
