dear JATlanders,

i've many times heard from other members tht we had hitherto sum distinguished members, sum gud visionaries, sum gud writers nd intellectual dignified JAT personalities at JL. these members have either left the sight or they r in hibernation or they do not contribute any more, if at all they r visiting this site.

WHO ARE THESE MEMBERS ??? i wud b pleased if there profiles are posted here... (it wud be my/our pleasure to know more abt them).

also, is there any way to bring back those old distinguished members ??? or for tht matter... has there been any effort to bring them back ???

dont u feel tht its everyBUDDY's responsibility to have them back in JATland and to have more of their experienced contribution !!! ... i guess, every member wud appreciate tht their contribution is VITAL... as such, this is my humble request (especially to the young generation) to pls. contribute by giving your views as to how shud we go about it nd HOW TO BRING THEM BACK ???

senior members are also requested to oblige the NEW generation by putting their efforts to bring them back... pls. dont run away... its yr. RESPONSIBILITY.

everything is possible... JUST DO IT... lets have them back !!! :)

Each and every member is equally important... and sometimes even New members add more value than old members.....It is not a govt job where experience (read contribution) comes with age or period of membership....

Every member is important. This is a voluntary forum; I do not think there is any need to awake sleeping members. I agree with Anil.

Hummm, Guys its that simple .... Just improve the quality of contents of the forum with less leg pulling, less unnecessary criticism, less hurting sarcasm & cheap humors! :)

Thats all that required!! ... I'm pretty sure that almost all the Gud Old Distinguished Members still visit the forum but they've become inactive or just read the stuff with Guest user...

So in my view, If quality of contents on forum will improve gud old members will start contributing again ... think about it!

On a serious note : Jit has a good suggestion irrespective of this thread , ofcourse dilution in quality will be a turn off for serious contributors. Also we must maintain the integrity/sactity of the forums in the sense that right threads in right forums.

Though we must also not let the rhetoric demotivate the new people. :)

Probably by not writing anything which could make a senior or distinguished member to think and feel aversive towards the site.First thing is putting quality in oneself and way of expressing towards subjects not by vomitting at person in any hidden or direct way if harmony is being desired.

Secondaly, moderators and administrators like Satyeshwer who are working closely with site since its launch can do it if they want.

I would like to see Mr Birbal to be back and take care of education section as he did in a class way.

Lets hope some positive development from mods and admins on this issue as they are more capable in this regard.I'm hopeful. :)

Rest each contributing member here can start this brain-drain by putting quality in themself first.

Hi everyone,
It's natural to reminisce about old days gone by and expect things to go back to the way they were! This is not just true about this site, but also of life in general. However, the simple and honest truth is that no matter how much we try, we can never get everyone of our friends and colleagues back again.

Members leave for different reasons. While it may be true that some got disgruntled by the constant jokes or insults that other members threw at them, attributing their absence on this site to just its deteriorating quality is an overkill. There are a whole slew of reasons like getting busy at work, being transferred to a job or a place with limited internet access, family events like a bachelor got married, became a dad and that just requires a lot more time to be spent with family.

Do not forget that this atmosphere of jest has also attracted a few thousand other members. Trust me, no one wants to join a morose site! Some members may even argue the claim of others that the quality is really deteriorating! It has become a social networking sites for Jats with a plethora of interesting ideas, topics, people, mindsets, with different educational, cultural and political backgrounds. There is no dearth of serious topics to discuss here. We even have an editorial section now raising the bar to only the highest quality content!

Finally, I like to think of our site as a school. I and a few others were the first batch of students. Most of them don't come here anymore, and I really wish they would as their jokes were the funniest, their vaad-vivaad hilarious, and their issues substantial! During these years I have sent emails to several of them requesting them to come back but I understand that they are all busy with their lives. There have been 2nd and 3rd batches and most of you are the 4th batch! Maybe someday you all will also graduate and go on to do different things and newer batches will come. Who knows, some of them may even yearn for you, saying things used to be so much better with you around.

Change is the only constant in the world! :)

shut down the JL for (2-3 months) maintenance...delete the unnecesary old threads..(like old jokes, locked contoversial threads, multiple threads on same topic<preserve the only one having most number of posts>)

this shutting down for few days would help the addicted one's to concentrate on their work or job, for their betterment..rather than killing time, and fighting over trivial issues..

and delete all the profiles, who have not visited JL in the past one year..
filter one's who have 500+ posts (or decide your own criterion) in their credit and send them request letter to join back ...

and delete the remainings..

Just improve the quality of the contents on forum and Good old distinguished members will start contributing again.........Its so simple???

In India everyone has hobby of Netagiri, but to become a good leader is different thing.

If we are talking of really good distinguished members and if they are really concerned about their community then there is no question to call them again. They must continue their contributions and improve the quality. Today JL is representing almost all Jat populated states ( Raj,UP,Haryana, Delhi) so it can be used as a very strong platform to spread awareness in whole Jat community. One should know how to use it.

Criticism, leg pulling will always be there and no visionary thinker is afraid of these things. But he can use it to make thread even more interesting. Without criticism ( sometimes it become leg pulling) No fruitful discussion is possible, It will just become a updesh or guest book.

the most concerned person is really concerned. thanks satyeshwar, for your valuable inputs. your analogy of comparing JATland to a school/college is interesting, but tell me didn’t you had any teachers/professors in your school/college? or they too also passed out along with every batch of students??? (please take it on a lighter note, as i try to add more sanity to my views thereby exploring further possibilities on a very serious understanding… honestly, no jokes)

this thread called to identify and bring back our distinguished members (teachers/professors as per my views in satya’s analogy). it was nice to see some people laughing their way out, kudos to them if they wanted to add humor in real sense (which in my view is definitely acceptable) ;), otherwise they should be really ashamed of themselves and/of their intentions. however, i thank the real contributors who took pain to put forward their ideas and to whom JATland really matters.

1. i got only one name of mr. birbal (or is it dr. birbal?) forwarded by samar. it would be nice to have more such names, preferably with ID links. joginder and satinder raised sum very sensible concerns as to how to retain the existing distinguished members? can we have some more inputs on this suggestion?

2. it would be interesting to have a list of distinguished members as well, so that i can suggest an idea of having a placard of “distinguished member” or “senior member” instead of “active member” under their profile. what are your views on this suggestion? if affirmative then what do you think should be the criteria of selecting “distinguished/senior member”?

on a lighter but very serious note, i would appreciate more inputs from our seniors/existing distinguished members if they think it is worthwhile to come out from their hibernation mode. their valuable and experienced inputs would be highly appreciated.

dear JATlanders,

i've many times heard from other members tht we had hitherto sum distinguished members, sum gud visionaries, sum gud writers nd intellectual dignified JAT personalities at JL. these members have either left the sight or they r in hibernation or they do not contribute any more, if at all they r visiting this site.

my above post was drafted few months back, but i refrained from posting, cos i was awaiting some sensible inputs from our senior members. i was a bit disappointed, but then i thought that this issue might have been discussed previously, time and again. today again i saw another post from mr. sachin balyan addressing dev sir w/o any proper respect that was expected, which i guess could be attributed towards his ignorance. (refer post # 48 on the link: http://www.jatland.com/forums/showpost.php?p=186529&postcount=48)

the issue is close to my heart, since i too have suffered on the same front earlier, where i had annoyed some real sensible and honest soul(s) on JL. i still regret my action(s) till date, and have asked for their forgiveness publicly as well as through PM'ing.

@ mods: pls have a serious consideration on my views in the previous post.

i have been in touch with some old/respected and senior members through PM'ing and pvt email messaging and honestly i've learnt a lot. here are few illustrations tht i would like to bring forth to everybody's attention.

does anyone here remember cmdr tanpat pannu ? pls refer his introduction... post # 269 on the link: http://www.jatland.com/forums/showpost.php?p=176435&postcount=269 also go through the response he got from fellow members in the subsequent posts.

but where is now cmdr pannu ? i know him cos i've been touch with him, and here is the reason for his disappearance from JL. please refer post # 10 here is the link : http://www.jatland.com/forums/showpost.php?p=176925&postcount=10 also refer to his reply post # 15 at http://www.jatland.com/forums/showpost.php?p=177097&postcount=15. mr. ohlan ka to kuchh nahin bigda, but we lost a very good member from JATland. Please also have a look at his last concluding post at JL... post # http://www.jatland.com/forums/showpost.php?p=177825&postcount=24.

p.s. 1: my appologies to cmdr pannu for quoting him, and no offense to others who have been quoted.
p.s. 2: where is yoginder gulia from toronto (canada) ? he too got some rough replies in his last posts. a good contributor, but no more.

Brahm, This is quite an interesting and costructive idea ( from my point of view ). Classification of members according to their behaviour and contribution can surely make members more responsible in the forums. Otherwise it seems somewhat awakward that a member with 50 ( just for example ) posts under his/her belt plus a few infractions/bans, a member with such a nice background on forums without any infraction/ban and a memeber with numerically a large number of 'distinguished' posts are considered as the same "active member".

Some grading system can be introduced depending on the criteria of number of posts, quality of posts, behaviour in forums, infraction, bans, social and/or academic contribution towards the community etc ( many more criterion can be put forward by the other worthy members as well ). Infraction level and ban period also can be differentiated according to their respective status while keeping in mind their past records. Promotion and demotion ( surely quite a few can face this ) of the membership can be updated from time to time.

Change of approach! :) for me !

Bullet points only:

1) All constructive ideas need be implemented.

Felicitating distinguished members , Giving them positions of authority and responsibility.
Separate heads for each of the sections fostering a greater participation and a more constructive kind of.
New initiatives like Jitender proposed a couple of days back.
concrete plans to increase the real base ( involving meeting of the members).
Plans of JL venturing into reality.
2) 1) will engage all "passionate & constructive" old and new members , and even after implementation of 1) any one is not contributing , i dont consider him worthy enough! Some stupid guy's couple of comments cannot mar a real "passion".

The best and most sensible post by some member. I would like to post it again:)
