A web page for Jatland.com

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if we can create an "About" page for Jatland on the home page. A page dedicated to Jatland website. This page tells us about the history of Jatland website, important dates and important people on Jatland. The way we talk about Jat history we should know about the Jatland history as well because according to me, starting this website in itself was a history making event.

I think all our new members wonder how exactly this website was conceptualised and who were the people behind it. Who is responsible for what (Duties and list of moderators)? A single page to find all information about this website.

We can add some more categories something like "Hall of Fame", "most famous" and "most well behaved" member, the categories are endless. I believe this will bring a healthy competition on our website and we'll definitely see some changes in member's attitude when they try to make it to these lists.

What you all think about it?

Bhai Deepak its a requirement for best things to say to first timer,s.

I am here from last two years but dont know about so maney things.

If we put some unik featurs of the site on first page or the page "About JL" will help us all and all new members.

It's not a bad idea. However, instead of the main page, I suggest that we add it in the WIKI section. That way, it will be modifiable by all members and the information would be more up to date.

No doubt that the popularity of Jatland among our community is notable and some steps should be taken to infrom the people/members about its initiatives, motto, major happenings, the people working behind the scenes, the people putting their lot of time and efforts for the betterment of this site and community as well and the list goed on ..... :)

And the problems would be endless. This is just like opening up a Pandora's Box ..... This is also another aspect of Jatland History.

Who will decide the nominies for these categories ...... and who will finalize ..... let's say Administrators/Moderators .. then these souls are already being overly criticized for their moderation part only.

And putting thses things in Wiki seems more troublesome as almost everybody would like to edit and replace them with their favourites names on a daily routine.

I am also in support of the idea. But I feel wiki is not a bad idea but this information should be made available somewhere on main page of JL. Link "About Us" may be placed with the links of Jatland Wiki (http://www.jatland.com/forums/../home/) People (http://www.jatland.com/forums/../home/People) Jatland Forums (http://www.jatland.com/forums/) Jat Matrimonials (http://www.jatland.com/forums/../home/Matrimonials) Contact Us (http://www.jatland.com/forums/sendmessage.php)in the top menus at home page can be made fixed on all other pages as well. Because sometimes people end up here through google/yahoo or other search engines to any random thread, these people should a link to "About Us" on that particular page. One page of "About Us" to be maintained by JL Admin and a link can be given on that page to wikipage for about us and tastimonials.

This is very good idea and it can be managed on Jatlan Wiki. For example we have http://www.jatland.com/home/Jatland_Wiki_tutorial

We have added Some guidelines in it. But not many members see it. We had discussions about starting Wiki on Jatland and it has proved very useful. No community so far have such a facility. We can give a link to About Jatland, or any other name as members finalize, on main page. There we can put guidelines for members how to edit, how to behave, Objectives of JL, Its history, Editors, and so many other info on it. It can be moderated easily on Wiki format.
