Indian therapies again proved to be genuine. They only requires faith and research. We heard about the guy who is curing cancer in kerala with the formula of herbs he got from some sanskrit pages of some book. He was cursed and we forgot too. Same case was put forward by fellow member ajay gaite whose mother was benefitting by some herbal treatment from Tijara rajasthan.

Kal hi ek bujurg se baat ho rahi thi ... he told that he has controlled his diabetes with Ramdev atta and yoga. Nue bolya mein to kite jana ho te apni roti band liya karun er gadi mein baitha baitha karna pado Yoga na chodta ... na to sugar badh jya hai .... er log ramdev ke pachey ee pad lein hein....

So, I feel we can found lots and lots of cures in our traditional therapy if brought to research.

What fellow members think about this?

A Belfast-based scientist has discovered that a herb found in the Himalayan region of India could be effective in controlling Type 2 diabetes.

Dr Yasser Abdel-Wahab, a senior lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ulster, and his team have discovered that the roots of a cucumber-like vegetable — a herb found in the forests of India — and extracts from the bark of a Himalayan plant, all showed positive results in test cases.
Dr Abdel-Wahab said following early laboratory work carried out at the Northern Ireland campus, researchers discovered the bark of Swertia chirayita, a plant traditionally grown in the Himalayas and also known as chirette. Some compounds extracted from its bark appeared to stimulate insulin production and improve its action.
“Natural anti-diabetic drug discovery is a key area of research that is attracting a lot of interest. More research is needed to establish definitively how and if our findings could be translated into new therapeutic agents for treatments for people with Type 2 diabetes, but we are hopeful that this will one day be the case,” he told a conference in Glasgow.
Several teams of scientists across the UK have been investigating a range of weird and wonderful complementary therapies that have the potential to help treat Type 2 diabetes.
Many cultures have claimed for centuries that plants can be used to treat diabetes. “The complementary therapy is an interesting but often understudied area of research for potential diabetes treatments,” Dr Iain Frame, Director of Research of Diabetes in UK, said. — PTI

Ayurveda is being ignored in India, the very place which invented it. I had highlighted this fact in my thread Negligence of Ayurveda (http://www.jatland.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24545).

Neem tree also has exceptional medicinal qualities and diabetes can be controlled successfully from medicines made out of neem tree components. Read the book Neem (नीम) (http://www.jatland.com/home/Neem) written by Swami Omanand, now available at Jatland Wiki.

Ironically, most ayurvedic medicines available in market do not give the desired results. Reason is that there is no regulatory authority which can control the quality of medicines and bring the culprits to book, in case of fake medicines. It is our own fault, not that of ayurvedic system itself. If you find out the formula, collect the raw components from your own sources or buy the herbs from retail outlets, and then prepare the medicine yourself, it gives immense satisfaction.

You may find a 1-Kg bottle of Chyawanprash priced as high at Rs. 800/- (some brands). If you prepare the same tonic at home, it would hardly cost 50-60 Rupees per kilogram.

Nice inputs DND Ji....but as you wrote about Chyawanprash, it seems to have 100s of ingredients, is it practically possible to prepare it yourself and get same taste and effects, please suggest:)

Hi to all Jatlanders,

Can any body know any herb or any ayurvedic medicine through which we can cure IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome).

Because in Allopathic there is a no medicine to treat this fully .

About IBS --> This is Irritable Bowel Syndrome in which sometimes it cause Bloating and sometimes it cause Diahhorrea i.e the bowel motion is just reversed means not occuring regularly and the hurting thing is that patient feels irritation (Burning in stomach even it is revolving like a burning bowel in most of the parts of body even on taking medicines too)

Regarding Bowel as a bowel is present in everybody which causes the motion but due to certain conditions like not taking meal on right time OR due to "Kabzi" which is a common in most of the people it become converted to IBS. The symptoms are appeared fully in the age of 40-45 years .

I am asking this because my mother is suffering from this. If any body knows anything about the cure/good doctor then please let me know.
