Being in Twenties - something

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.

You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.

You look at your job... and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you.

Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure.

You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lie in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you're doing this because you know that you aren't a bad person. One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap. Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for yourself... and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!

What you may not realize is that every one reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.

We call it the "Quarter-life Crisis."

Nice topic Jit bhai:).......among the long list to me it looks subjective as lot many things depend up on the calibre and potential of an individuals,,,

for some it begins early for some it begins in 20s and for some it never begin:rock

I will just quote Francis Bacon "Some people are elder in deeds and some are elder in age" ,,,,,aur main to ye kahta hu ki "For some nothing works":rock

I am in my twenties so i think i can share my views about this one:)Very nice gopic but i suppose this is also very prominent in people who are in their early 30's or i say untill one gets married(in most of the cases)....well its human nature...we are confused and keep getting nightmares untill we are financially and emotionally strong and independent....the major issue is financial independence at such age....coz most of us get jobs in this phase of life and start earning bucks...well this process which leads to such difficult situation starts in teenage....Wondering why?Let me explain.....the first step towards our career and professional life in the time when we have to choose a stream of our choice in school...and at that time we are(most of)told by our parents what they want us to be so we choose tht particular stream to live upto our parents' expectations and sometimes kids are literally forced by parents to take up a stream of their choice without giving them any choice....and that's the initial stage where we go wrong and which lands us into a place where we find ourselves so very confused as we realize that the job we are doing is not what we like or love:eek:we feel doomed..So its the teenage which plays a major role in shaping our personality that we will take up in our 20s...So i think teenagers should be more considerate as it can make their lives either fun or hell in future...more then eighty percent of the people around the globe do their job not because they love doing it but to earn a living out of it....I am glad i am not one of those people who wake up in the morning and have this disgusting feeling "Oh s**t again i have to go to office and do something i hate to do":D

Let me be light on this ! :)

Jit , how on earth you could read my mind and put it in words ? :D

he he he he

Well most of what is written is absolutely true , I have my own experience and then a lot many friedns who share their life and their thought process with me!

I would rather say that it is probably the toughest time but being a positivist I am ( Sunita ji might wish to take a note ;) , I am not any more trying to be neutral :) ) , I would say this is one hell of an opportunity to grow and evolve as a person , as a professional and in totality as a human! :)

I would add to it that unconsciously one is basically trying to define his/her objective function in life , so give due thoughts of what ultimately you want to do in life , waht are your priorities in life , what are the people that you want to love / be loved from ?
If you can put in thoughts the answer to some of these questions , life can be smooth!
As always , patience is a virtue! :)

Nice Topic.
Anil very well expressed. Though all phases of life are important but this is the most crucial one to give direction and shape to the self.
Only those get satisfaction of achievement who set objectives/goals at this age and start working for it.
You should live to love your work and your life and not just trudging along.
