What is the fault in word "Con" ?

There is a tiny word 'con'. In Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian, 'con' means 'with'.

Windows system seems to be allergic to it. Try yourself. Right-click any folder (or any icon of your saved documents) and try to rename it as "con".

con is a reserved word for console from the old DOS days.

To create a new text file in DOS we used to type "copy con newtext.txt" in the console commanding the dos to copy a text file from the console to the textfile.Sinse DOS is still the background of latest windows creating a folder or file with the name con will have devastating results.

Here are some of the names that cannot be used for naming folders or files :PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9
