Noida- One huge park under construction on Mayawati's instructions with her huge statue. Costing on papers Rs 350 Crores.
Lucknow-Yesterday one more poject has been inaugrated by her in Lucknow Costing Rs. 1200 Crores purpose is, it contains her statue.

So where is the recession is it for us only? Our tax is using by these type of people great. Politicians enjoyyyyyyyyyyy.

Indeed a great initiative by Behenji, this should be rolled out across the country and all state governments should emulate this model to generate employments:p, one more step towards social engineering!!!, the downtrodden & poor scheduled casts will feel empowered with such steps, this empowerment will be corollary to employment generation..:D.
Soon the country will be dotted with the statues of demagogues!!!!...God Bless this country...:o

Putting Statues and memorials is acceptable if done in a decent and logical way but overdoing it and spending obnoxious amounts will inturn demean the personality of the very leader.

Saddam was a recent example who put his won larger than life statues..do we see a parallel here???...iska ek hi jawab hai :tamatar

A couple of points:


Infrastructure is so damn important for any development , not to start any debates on national politics , but NDA govt understood it very well and started huge policies / process ( another story that they could not reap its benefits ). In that sense its not so bad what Mayawati is doing ( though i am not sure if she understands it at all).

Correlating with recession is a different story. Govt as a spender of last resort has to back up the downsurge in consumer spending else recession can become self feeding and can be catastrophic. So govt. balance sheet has to expand in times of downturn/recession.


Statues etc are funny but also a very important lessons for all those who are willing to learn. She is doing nothing wrong , she is only paying back to people who have supported her. Look at all this is this way: She projected herself as representing the down trodden Dalits / SCs / STs and those people relate themselves to her. so its not only her statue in the park , rather its a celebration of the "dalits".
And at least those who favour reservation ( Jat ofcourse !) should infact be very happy about it, because if Mayawati enchant-ed "dalits" , you guys are more or less doing the same. And if she can be successful about it , why cannot you guys? Get ready for erecting statues/placards/posters etc all over once you get the reservation! Time's running my friends! :)


PS: Do not take my post as any sarcasm , it is just my pain of seeing a country being divided for nothing on issues of caste / religion, areas !

Nishant Its not great thinking, but I think this investment is much better than keeping this money in Swiss account. Something is better than nothing. I am not at all interested in political discussions nor I have knowledge, but Mayawati is the only one I can see who can bring us out from Gandhi-Nehru Era. for good or bad Time will decide that.

But what infra is she building? Would have been better off building roads or power projects and naming them after her, kanshi ram and elephants. Also, India is not having a growth problem as yet. The bottlenecks in growth are anyways more due to govt. curbs and infrastructure issues. Another danger to growth is the dangerous fiscal position that India is getting into. And needless expenditure like this is not going to help.

Same here I am also not against anybody neither Gandhi-Nehru family nor Mayawati. And just want like you they do good work. Ok Mayawati is not good politician agreed, but she is mass puller and came in the power with full majority. We need a stable government plus equally poweful opponent. SIMPLY TWO PARTY SYSTEM.

She claims that even Shahjahan was criticized when he was building Taj Mahal and now it is a huge attraction for tourists. These statues are going to be a major tourist attraction. People from all over the world will come just to see these statues.
