A budding golfer - none other than my own maternal nephew (Maternal uncle's grandson) - Piyush Sangwan has many feathers in his cap. He started playing golf in DLF GC Gurgaon at a very tender age of just 8-9 years when children usually prefer to play with toys only. He, perhaps, inherited his inclination to this 'game of the rich' from his father(my namesake) a good boxer and golfer himself. Now in Cat C (12-14 years), he has already played some international tournaments too including one in US and Malaysia. Chandigarh’s 16-year-old Tarundeep Chadha and 12-year-old Piyush Sangwan from Gurgaon notched up their second straight win on the Toyota Etios Junior Golf Tour when they clinched the Northern India Golf titles in the A and C Categories at the Panchkula Golf Club here today.

Piyush, who fired a grand five under 67 in Gurgaon for the first title, clinched the Panchkula title again carding an 83 on the final day. Talking about his win Piyush said: “It feels great to win in Panchkula. It’s a tough course and puts one’s skills to some serious test. This victory has given me plenty of confidence for the Tour ahead.”
IGU ranked golf tournament, Toyota Etios-Tamil Naadu held from May 18 to 21 at Ootacumund Golf Club followed by the Toyota Tour-Southern India in Coimbatore.
Participants:
Category C (12-14): Piyush Sangwan 305, Viraj Madappa 311 and Prakhar Asawa 316.
Piyush stood first in the above tournament in his category (12-14 years).
