china will sweep more than 50 % medals and 35 % by S korea &, Japan. Rest 15 by all others including India. to become no 2 in Asiad should be dream and can be acheived in next 16 to 20 years if we follow the china.

Very dismal performance in comparison to the excellent performance in Commowealth Games; because sporting giants like China, Korea, Japan were around. Sports stewards of the genre of Kalmadi, V.K. Malhotra et some other corrupt and inefficient morons need to be fired unceremoniously. Entire sports set-up need to be radically revamped. Nepotism, corruption and poor infrastructure at grass-root level have already taken a heavy toll on Indian sports. Good sportsmen can be traced in dusty hamlets/villages and narrow bylanes of small towns only and not in the dazzling bungalows in swanky locales inhabited by the urban elites who can produce very few Bindras and Narangs. So, government need to focus the searchlights on poor and neglected countryside to trace real athletes/sports-persons and then pump adequate funds for creation of necessary facilities to shape & polish these real gems found in the villlage dust.

India won 2 golds in kabaddi in both men and women events. Sad day for women wrestlers. Only suman kundu will battle for bronze in repechange, others including Geeta phougat were crashed out. looks like india will finish only with 3 bronze in all wrestling events.

According to a report carried by "Dainik Bhaskar" 12 out of 14 Gold Medalists are from Haryana (most of them Jats, perhaps). It is a matter of proud for all of us. They have really done wonders even without adequate logistics and have the potential to bring India at number one, if world class facilities are provided to them. A lot needs to be done for creating adequate infrastructure for sports in rural areas which has a vast reserve of promising athletes/players.

Here is the link.

There is no truth in this claim..just a haux... let me count on individual medalist from haryana

vikas krishan yadav - boxing - gold
bijender singh beniwal - boxing- gold...
(just 2 gold medalist in individual category)

dinesh kumar - silver- boxing
manjeet singh- silver- boxing

paramjeet samota - bronze- boxing
kavita goyat - bronze- boxing

mausam khatri -bronze -wrestling
ravindra singh - bronze- wrestling

Can anyone else add more medalists in individual category from haryana?

VP Singh Ji

I believe, you missed something in your observation.
In fact some of the Gold medal winners are have done so in the team events.
4 of them are from Man's Kabbadi team and one or two are from women kabbadi team. Sanam Dalal won his gold with his doubles partner Somdev Burman.
I believe, only the two boxers, Vijender and Vikash krishan have won their gold medals in individual events.
Nevertheless, participant from Haryana have done exceedingly well and much better in comparison of other participants.

Heartiest congratulations to all the the medal winners!

No Prashant, report is correct but the Sh. VP.Singh missed something in his observation!
Some of them have won their medals in team events!

Jasmer, jasbir, sonu narwal, jagdeep narwal are from Men's kabbadi team

Manisha Dalal from Women kabbadi team
Sanam dala Lawn Tennis
Vijender and Vikash Krishan Boxers

I have no idea about other three gold medal winners!

Deshwal ji, I quoted newspaper's observation without counter-checking its veracity. I was not following the games very closely and took the newspapers report on face value. While watching TV a few minutes ago, I came to know about detailed medal tally. I was about to insert a clarification but in the meantime you and Prashant posted necessary corrections. Thanks to both of you.

Relevant excerpt from the newspapers is given below:

Prashant

You can't imagine how far these politicians can go to boost their false ego and waste public money. Gagan Narang, who was born in Chinai, family settled in Hydrabad was awaded about Rs.37 lacs because his grandfather lived in Sambhalakha, Haryana in the past.

Also, may be somebody like Saina would be in the list, who was also honored after CWG.
She is haryanvi because she was born in Hissar, Hydrabadi as she lived most of life in Hydrabad, a UP girl for her ancestral links

Their may be some more players in their count like the above!
