It is a shame that both our official national sports (Hockey) and official national sports (cricket) are English imports. There are scores of exciting native sports in much need of funding, support, infrastructure, standadization, etc. This includes Kabbadi, Maal Khamb, Ghatta Gindi (traditional rural Haryanvi Sports), Gulli Danda, even kanche, <others, pls add more such sports in your comments> etc.

- Government must actively promote, popularize, fund, and reward (money and jobs) the native sports.

- These sports must be standardized (ones which are not standardized e.g. Ghatta Gindi, Gulli Danda, Maall Khamb, or even Kanche) with defined set of rules, creation of town, district, state and national level sports academies and official federations,

- set up separate departments (and new sports universities) for the native games in the sports universities

- recruit more coaches for these sports in stadiums, universities, educational institutes

- go to the extent of funding (grants, aid, loan) to overseas institutes for the expansion of these traditional sports e.g. Indian aid grants to other nations (Afghanistan, Africa, and others) can include a mandatory component for expansion of these sports including free training of their sporting officials, etc. Similarly, cultural exchanges, people-to-people contact, MOU, etc with foreign nations can include training of their officials and players in native Indian games.

- organize more events, leagues, games

- monetize tehse games via sponsorships, teleast, IPL style leagues,

- campaign for inclusion of these sports in various international events
