Hi Friends,

need some guidance from you all on a decent Home theatre System, looking for something between 35 K -45 K. Have explored some Sony & JBL Systems. Can somebody suggest what are the key things to look for? Am avoiding combos with Blu Ray / DVD players...

regards,

Pawan.

Home theatre is more of a marketing term. The actual stuff depends on personal choice and the money one is willing to spend.

I am not sure with a budget of 35-45K what you are looking at? Generally people go with latest technologies when doing new purchases in electronics as the technology upgrades pretty fast. If you are ok with older technology, then you would be able to much better stuff by buying second hand stuff as it would be discounted to the extend to 75-90% of the value you would be paying for new one.

If you want to go for new technology, which is generally preferred, then start with a 3d LED TV and then buy the add ons like speakers and digital amplifiers as per your need. Do not go for very high power output ones if you are buying for home.

Some of the good readings on the net are
1. http://www.home-theater-systems-advice.com/ - Good site with user feedback.
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_cinema - Good site to get a grasp of terminologies.

Thanks for the inputs... am exploring Sony DAV-FZ 900 & Harman Kardon 134 with JBL speakers, both below 45 K.

Even Yamaha & Denon are below 45 K, obviously these are 5.1 amplifiers...
