He was only true jat leader who did his best in Haryana to make it one of the good progressive state but unfortunately he did not do any thing good when he got the second term, may be under the influence of his son Surender. In the nutshell, he is/was the best jat leader who did lot of good works for Haryana. We must salute this great jat leader.

Those were different times and different leaders. Those were the men of their word who would not hesitate to step down if there was a variation between their words and their deeds.

However, what was surprising was the almost complete blackout by the national media (print and electronic), especially the English ones in not reporting the demise of popular Jat leaders be it Ch. Bansi Lal or Ch. Devi Lal. Jats, it seems have always got a raw deal from the media, which does not hesitate a bit to attribute honour killings, hooliganism, etc. to Jats, but at the same time completely ignores the great sons of the soil.

99 में सरकार जाने के बाद एक बार जींद में रैली करी थी विकास पार्टी ने , रैली से पहले सुरेंदर सिंह ने कहीं पत्रकारों से कह दिया की अगर हमारी सरकार दुबारा आई तो हम बिजली के बिल मांफ कर देंगे , जब यह बात पत्रकारों ने चौ.बंसी लाल से पूछी तो चौ.साहब ने कहा की '' सुरेंदर सी.एम बनेगा तो कर देगा पर चौ.बंसी लाल तो करे कोणी '' |
बिजली के बिलों पर लोहारू बाढ़ड़ा में किसानो ने खूब बवाल मचाया , इन बिलों के चक्कर में चौ.भजन लाल सरकार में कादमा काण्ड हुआ कई किसान शहीद हुए ...इस चक्कर में 96 में कांग्रेस बुरी तरह हार गई और विकास पार्टी की सरकार में आ गई ...चौ.बसी लाल की सरकार बनने के बाद फिर यह बिलों वाला मुद्दा उठा तो चौ.बंसी लाल ने बाढ़ड़ा में एक रैली में कहा की बिल भर देना नहीं तो मुझे भरवाने भी आते हैं ..ताहरे डोगे अर्र खंडुए झंडिया के टंगवा द्यूंगा नही भरे तो ....उत् मान्या नहीं इस चक्कर में मंढयाली काण्ड करवा दिया कई किसान मरवा दिए और आखिर में अपनी सरकार भी खो दी पर मान्या कोणी ......


आजकल के नेताओ में एक गोढ़ा मोड़न का बहुत रिवाज चाल रया स , चाहे गाँव में कोई कुत्ता मर जाओ ये नेता जरुर जायेंगे जैसे की इनने आगले त भी गणा दुःख होया स , चौ.बंसी लाल जी मरने मर गए किसे के मरगत या ब्याह शादी में शरीक नहीं हुए | इस पर भिवानी में किस्सा सुनाया करे की एक बार चौ.बंसी लाल के एक अजीज मित्र लाला जी की माँ मर गई ........लाला ने फोन किया चौ.साहब के पास , चौ.साहब न फोन ठाया .......लाला ने बताया की माँ गुजर गई .....चौ.साहब ने कहा की बहुत दुःख होया और फोन रख दिया ........ लाल ने फेर किया उठाते ही चौ.साहब ने फेर वोही बात कहके फोन रख दिया ......इब लाला के खुरक थी के चौ.साहब गोढ़ा मोड़न आवे ....लाला ने तीसरी फेर फोन किया तो चौ.साहब ने कहा के लाला जी माँ मर गई बहुत अफ़सोस पर चौ.बंसी लाल आवे कोणी ....


उनने भाषण बाजी कम ही आया करती, जैसा की चौटाला साहब अपने भाषण में सबको इज्जत देते हैं चौ.बंसी लाल जी इसके जम्मा उलटे थे ....एक बार 97 की बात स लोहारू में रैली थी इतिफाक त मैं भी उस दिन लोहारू में था तो उनका भाषण सुनन चला गया .....उनने चौटाला साहब पर एक व्यंग कसा की इस चौटाला ने अपनी माँ के पेट में त लिकड़न में 24 घंटे लगा दिए थे , इसकी माँ बहुत रोई ...इसकी माँ ने रोती देख दाई बोली के बावली इबे तो तू रोवे स आगे आगे इसने पूरा हरियाणा रोवेगा .....और आखिर में बोले के भाई शास्त्रों में लिखा हैं की जिस राज्य का राजा अपंग हो वो राज्य विकास नहीं कर सकता उसका नास ही होगा , एक लंगड़ा स और दूसरा काणा (भजन लाल ) स तो सोच समझ के फैसला करियो ........


ऐसे अनाड़ी पणे के कई किस्से स चौ.बंसी लाल जी के ..........
बुढ़ापे में पुत्र मोह ले बैठा बाऊ जी न ...........
बाक्की इस परिवार में जाट वाली कोई बात नहीं सारी रिश्तेदारी गैर जाटों में हैं .....

Everyone has his or her own yard stick to judge a contemporary person but none could deny the fact that Chaudhary Bansi Lal was an extraordinary personality ever born in the Jat community, who rose from humble beginnings to the heights of political power in the second half of the last century.

It is wrong to allege that he was not a Jat and one can like him or hate him but none could ignore him. This was the man, whom world remembers for his good or bad deeds even after so many years of his having gone into political oblivion. Your comments and tributes invited.

Out of his all achievements the most prominent were the 100% electrification of rural Haryana in 1970 and appointment of AL Fletcher ac VC of HAU. He turned this university as the back bone of green revolution .

Dr, I did not mean that ch Bansi lal was not a jat, I only said that he was not jat leader and no body can deny my this statement, he was leader of all. I had very less inter action with him, I had few opportunities to talk or listen to him in 68 during his first winning election,second time I met him when he became CM, regarding case on studentsof Narnaul college who were agitating for chandigarh, after that I had heared/seen him through media only. But as per my assessment he was PAKA, Solid, true, real jat with all qualities of jats, Marring in other castes is no measuring yard, What ever mr raka has said is also showing that he was a great jat, he was not only jat by birth but by nature, by his character, deads and behaviour,A good leader,jat community had. regards

He was not a Jat Leader that statement is correct.. He has always worked towards the betterment of whole Haryana not just the Jats, not done anything specifically for Jats. We can say he was leader of masses... or he was not just the politician but a leader in true sense.. as he lead Haryana from backward state to a developed state.
But to say he was not a jat is wrong ( yeh to unki shaan me gustakhi hogi). Back in the days when every leader of Congress was scared of Indra Ghandhi he gave a statement "Jaab bachda mere pas he to gaa kade jagi"

-Electrifying and metalled road connection to each village of haryana back in 70s
-Lift irrigation being introduced in arid lands of Bhiwani, Mahendargarh & Rewari
-Haryana Tourism (Highway Tourism) was brain child of Bansilal. Story is once while travelling from Chandhigardh to Delhi he didnt find any decent place to stop for tea. So he said other people might be facing the same issue and hence he ordered construction of roadside networks of decent restaurants.
-Sprinkler system of irrigation was introduced b'cos of his efforts.

Brother, madam chandrawati was the one who brought him in politics and I was present in his first election in 68, he could made it due to chandrawati and became CM BY default due to wrong assessment of bhagwat dayal, I fully agree that he was short tempered, rud, ill mannered, he was not very polished in his language, he has strong liking and disliking, never hagitated to take revenge, he was totally failed as an advocate but lucky as cm, he never changed his food habits, but he was lucky, hard working, comparatively honest, man of words, definitely in his first tenure he did lot for the state but credit must be given to Indira and sanjay who realy helped bansilal, He looked after sanjay well, infact sanjay was on pay roll of Haryana and in bargain Bansi lal went close to Indira, but he utelized his closeness with PM in the interest of the state.But his sons and specially surender let him down very badly, some of you must be knowing, there was a time when ladies stoped sleeping on top of their houses at Bhiwani DUE TO GOONDA GARDI OF SURENDER, Anyway still Bansi lal was much batter as a person, leader and CM. Rewasa was different case, but in Bhiwani surender used to enter houses without any restriction specially in krishana coloney etc and created havac, I have seen surender earlier with torn khakhi pent and dirty shirt and than suddenly money, power and fame came without any strugal, which entered his head and he got totally spoiled.

चौ.बंसी लाल के गाँव का नाम गोलागढ़ हैं और आप लोग भी जानते होगे की गोला किसने कह्या करे | इस पर चौ.ओमप्रकाश चौटाला ने 2004 में बहल की रैली में कहा था '' चौ.बंसी लाल आज हरियाणा का विकास करने की बात करते हैं , उनसे अपने गाँव का नाम तो बदला नहीं गया प्रदेश का क्या विकास करेंगे , इनको अपने गाँव का नाम बताते हुए शर्म भी नहीं आती '' | चौ.ओमप्रकाश चौटाला ने कोशिश भी की नाम बदलने की पर चौ.बंसी लाल ने नहीं बदलने दिया |


बताया करे के भगवत दयाल अर्र राव वीरेंद्र की सरकार पड़ने के बाद जद नए मुख्यमंत्री की तलाश हो रही थी तो ताऊ देवी लाल ने बंसी लाल को कहा की मीटिंग में मैं तेरा नाम परपोज करूँगा तू उल्टा मेरा ले दिए के मुझे नहीं देवी लाल को बना दो | प्लानिंग के अनुसार ताऊ ने बंसी लाल जी का नाम तो ले दिया पर बंसी लाल ने मुंह नहीं खोला | इसके बदले में ताऊ को मंत्री बनाना तो दूर एक खादी बोर्ड का चेरमैन बना दिया |


अपने देहांत के दो-तीन साल पहले जब ताऊ देवी लाल जी हरियाणा भ्रमण पर थे तो वो हमारे पड़ोस के गाँव चरखी में भी आये थे और साथ में एक फोटो एल्बम भी ले रहे थे | गाँव में जनसभा के बीच में ताऊ ने वा एल्बम खोली और एक फोटो दिखाई जिसमे ताऊ खुद स्टेज पर बैठे और नीचे दरी / जाजम पर दो युवक गाँधी टोपी पहने बैठे हैं | ताऊ ने उन दोनों युवको की तरफ इशारा करके अपने अंदाज में कहा '' पिछानो सो इनने कौन स ये .... ये दोनों ताहरी भिवानी के स '' फिर फोटो में उन दोनों युवको की तरफ इशारा करके बोले '' यो तो बंसी लाल स और यो दूसरा मान्हेरू वाला बनारसी दास गुप्ता स '' ये कदे मेरी दरी बिछाया करते ..इनको नेता मैंने बनाया था ...|


अब रही बात सुरेन्द्र सिंह उर्फ़ टाली की पंजाबियों में आंतक की तो भिवानी में कहावत स के आज भिवानी शिक्षा बोर्ड में जितनी पंजाबन लागरी स सब टाली की मेहरबानी स | अजय सिंह चौटाला ने अपना पहला लोकसभा का चुनाव 98 में भिवानी सीट से लड़ा था | चुनाव के दौरान की बात हैं हम लोग नए हाऊसिंग बोर्ड में बैठे थे सबका अनुमान था की अजय सिंह को हराएगा तो शहरी पंजाबी वोट हराएगा | हमारे पास एक बुढ़ा बैठा था वो बोला की मैं कृष्णा कालोनी का सु और इस बार जो तुम सोच रहे हो वैसा नहीं हैं , इस बार हम पंजाबी इस टाली को वोट नहीं देंगे , हम भूले नहीं ह वो दिन जब यो हमारी लडकियों को उठा ले जाता था और हम देखते रहते थे , हुन फंसा हैं यो असली के , खैर वो चुनाव सुरेन्द्र सिंह नो हजार वोटो से जीत गया था | पर उस बूढ़े की बातो से अंदाज़ा लग जाता हैं की इसने वाक्य में ज्यादती करी थी | इन्ही ज्यादतियों के चलते रिवासा काण्ड हुआ | और चौ.बंसी लाल ने अपने इस छोटे पुत्र त गणा मोह था जो आखिर में ले बैठा |


भिवानी में चौ.बंसी लाल के किल्लो के साथ लगते हमारे किल्ले हैं | हमारे किल्ले एक ठाकर बोया करे , मैंने उस ठाकर त पूछी के इनके परिवार का भी कोई आया करे के इनने सम्भालन | उस ठाकर ने बताई के पहले तो चौ. साहब की घर वाली खुद आया करती , जब 87 -88 में चौ.साहब मुख्यमंत्री थे तब भी वा मुख्यमंत्री की घरवाली होते आस्ति मजदूरो के साथ लग के लामनी करवाया करती .....बुढली के कोई गुमान कोणी था के तू मुख्यमंत्री की घरवाली स .....

Devi lal brought him in politics or you can say Bansi lal was his political creation. During Bansi lal’s first term as chief minister ship, Devi lal was chairman of Khadi board. Once they both were travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi in car. Devi lal tried to impose some suggestion on him. Bansi lal, a very temperament and had strong aversion to any imposition, including a suggestion. When Devi lal kept insisting about his advice, Bansi lal got annoyed and asked the driver to stop the car and dropped Devi lal (his mentor) on road side in scorching sun


Chaudhary Devi Lal, who was a straightforward man could never forget to mention it in public but he never narrated the incident to his biographers or to the media or his contemporary politicians during his life time! Why? What does this mean? Imagine and come forward....

If, you could substantiate the veracity of the incident with authentic facts, it would be a good addition to our knowledge about the personality of the two Jat leaders of the twentieth century.

Ek baar ki baat hai jab yo Bansi defence minister tha. Iska ek pittu iski sifaris le aaya JCO se Officer main promote hone ke liye. Us time iske Pittu ka boss ek sardar tha usne iski ACR (Annual Confidential Report) bahut gandi likh rakhi thi kyon ki woh tha hi isi ke layak. Us ACR ki wajah se woh pittu officer main promote nahin ho paa raha tha. ACR adchan dal rahi thi. Us Bansi ke chamche ne apni isi tisi kara li lakin us imandar sardar ne ACR nahin badli. Sardar officer ne bola ki agar yo officer ban gaya to ghna ka nukshan kar dega is liye yo officer ke layak nahin hai. Bansi bhi kuch na bigad paya tha us sardar ka.

This was a great achievment and lifeline for the people of Bhel and Jhumpa area as the uderground water is not drinkable in those areas. Before that people in those areas have to depend of rainwater even for the supply of drinking water. Adjoining area in Rajasthan may still have that issue not sure...

Whatever, Bansi Lal did was with lightening speed and efficiency. I was only a kid and whenever we drove from Jaipur to village in Hissar, I could see noticeable difference in quality of roads, when we crossed from Rajasthan into Haryana. Our average speed of the car went up, ride was smoother, trees lined up both sides of the roads so ride seemed cooler, canals looked pleasing with trees on both sides of the canals. Rajasthan roadways people also used to comment things like 'Harayan aane do phir road dekhna'. And all this was in mid 70s.
Another noticeable difference was construction of roadworks and bridges at night. I had not seen that at that time even in place like Jaipur. I think he achieved his three goals, (roads, water and electrification - jokingly: sardak, paani er bizli) in all villages in 70s itself.

I have heard, he did the same thing when he was the defense minister. There is a quote by Col Malik somewhere in this forum regarding his tenure as DM.

And, then..... not sure what happened to him in later years and later administrations.

Bansi Lal has been known for his leadership and administration skills. Also known as architect of Haryana, in his tenure as CM he has known to achieve full electrification of the state in 70s itslef, a distinctive first for any state in India. Known also for irrigation system that see today and reap the benefit. He has been instrumental in making all the districts of the state self sufficient in terms of water - especially Bhiwani. Selflessly he has done so much for the state of Haryana, that the state is surviving on the vision he created that time. Besides been CM of Haryana thrice, Armed forces did very well in his tenure as Defence Minister. Time magazine cover in the summers of 1985 is the testamonial to this fact, where India has been shown as a Defence Giant for the first time in the annals of modern world History.
He had streak for easy misunderstanding, panche for speedy execution of work and rustic mannerism. I dont know how much truth Mr KP Singh (DLF) has brought out in his book ¨"whatever the odds¨, where he has stated that he had been wronged by Mr Bansi Lal for a small drunken incident of a guest at his party. I think their is more to this story?
Mr Banshi Lal died a recluse, having lost the power and his son before him, but he will be known for his work in building Haryana from scratch and having taken Haryana to a heights, which is still higher than most of the states despite continuos fall in succesive govts after his first tenure.
Salute to him on his centanery today....

Though step good intention-ed yet execution misfired!

He was not against teachers. He was just very strict and wanted teachers to come to school on time and not to take "phurlow" any day. This intention was misconstrued as 'against teachers' especially by govt. school teachers as this was against their comfort.

Bhai Gulia sahab, you are right but there was a serious reason for his anti teacher attitude, If you remember, in those days teachers used to work in their fields/shops/attending pvt functions/playing cards/taking tuition classes during school timings, their discipline had gone to dogs, late coming/gup-shup in common room/nitting by lady teachers/discussing politics/drinking in the school even during school timings was common practice, Out of all emplyees teachers were involved most in political activities and certainly were most effective also specially in rural areas, you will surprise to know that some teachers work for pvt organisations/took pvt contructs and were involved in many commercial and social activities along with their jobs. They had strong union, many were office bearers for them teaching/taking classes was not applicable, false LTC claims, false bills on school fund etc were common. Brother, Intention of ch Bansi lal was good, he wanted to improve our education dept but unfortunately, his efforts enoyed teachers and they all worked against him and he had to suffer.

There is no person who is 100% correct , so its better we discuss the best part of his life and i dont think the nuptial knotes of his grand daughter has any thing to do with his personality.

बिजली के बिलों पर लोहारू बाढ़ड़ा में किसानो ने खूब बवाल मचाया , इन बिलों के चक्कर में चौ.भजन लाल सरकार में कादमा काण्ड हुआ कई किसान शहीद हुए ...इस चक्कर में 96 में कांग्रेस बुरी तरह हार गई और विकास पार्टी की सरकार में आ गई ...चौ.बसी लाल की सरकार बनने के बाद फिर यह बिलों वाला मुद्दा उठा तो चौ.बंसी लाल ने बाढ़ड़ा में एक रैली में कहा की बिल भर देना नहीं तो मुझे भरवाने भी आते हैं ..ताहरे डोगे अर्र खंडुए झंडिया के टंगवा द्यूंगा नही भरे तो ....उत् मान्या नहीं इस चक्कर में मंढयाली काण्ड करवा दिया कई किसान मरवा दिए और आखिर में अपनी सरकार भी खो दी पर मान्या कोणी ......


आजकल के नेताओ में एक गोढ़ा मोड़न का बहुत रिवाज चाल रया स , चाहे गाँव में कोई कुत्ता मर जाओ ये नेता जरुर जायेंगे जैसे की इनने आगले त भी गणा दुःख होया स , चौ.बंसी लाल जी मरने मर गए किसे के मरगत या ब्याह शादी में शरीक नहीं हुए | इस पर भिवानी में किस्सा सुनाया करे की एक बार चौ.बंसी लाल के एक अजीज मित्र लाला जी की माँ मर गई ........लाला ने फोन किया चौ.साहब के पास , चौ.साहब न फोन ठाया .......लाला ने बताया की माँ गुजर गई .....चौ.साहब ने कहा की बहुत दुःख होया और फोन रख दिया ........ लाल ने फेर किया उठाते ही चौ.साहब ने फेर वोही बात कहके फोन रख दिया ......इब लाला के खुरक थी के चौ.साहब गोढ़ा मोड़न आवे ....लाला ने तीसरी फेर फोन किया तो चौ.साहब ने कहा के लाला जी माँ मर गई बहुत अफ़सोस पर चौ.बंसी लाल आवे कोणी ....


उनने भाषण बाजी कम ही आया करती, जैसा की चौटाला साहब अपने भाषण में सबको इज्जत देते हैं चौ.बंसी लाल जी इसके जम्मा उलटे थे ....एक बार 97 की बात स लोहारू में रैली थी इतिफाक त मैं भी उस दिन लोहारू में था तो उनका भाषण सुनन चला गया .....उनने चौटाला साहब पर एक व्यंग कसा की इस चौटाला ने अपनी माँ के पेट में त लिकड़न में 24 घंटे लगा दिए थे , इसकी माँ बहुत रोई ...इसकी माँ ने रोती देख दाई बोली के बावली इबे तो तू रोवे स आगे आगे इसने पूरा हरियाणा रोवेगा .....और आखिर में बोले के भाई शास्त्रों में लिखा हैं की जिस राज्य का राजा अपंग हो वो राज्य विकास नहीं कर सकता उसका नास ही होगा , एक लंगड़ा स और दूसरा काणा (भजन लाल ) स तो सोच समझ के फैसला करियो ........


ऐसे अनाड़ी पणे के कई किस्से स चौ.बंसी लाल जी के ..........

As a dispassionate student of history, I suggest that all the relevant documents collected by the scholar for so speedy research on the topic from Police and Judiciary departments records and extracts from the report of the Commission of Enquiry may be shared on the JatLand to put the record straight and a judicious view of the incident/person may be taken by all concerned.

Rajpal Sir, thanks for more information. But if I am not correct - Bansilal was in the centre (Member RS - 1976 to 1980) that time and Banarsi Das Gupta, CM of Haryana was also a Congress puppet (From 1 December 1975 to 30 April 1977) and can be compared with Dr Manmohan Singh in today's scenario.

i got 100% correct information: one rajput guy threw Surender Singh from his Rickshaw. Bansilal n Surender singh made this question of their NAAK. Bansilal sent police force including that time's DIG with surender singh to take revenge. that rajput guy was BHAGODA that time. so surender ordered policemen to make that guy's mother n mama fully naked. Surender singh with the help of police force kidnapped both real brother n sister in the fully nude position n took them to prison. these real brother n sister were forced to sleep fully naked with each other for many days. this information is 100% true... what i m not sure about is: sources says sister was gangraped by policemen infront of his real brother ( i m not sure about this). this kaand shows the real moral values of Bansli lal which he got from his MOTHER n father, most shameless person in the history of INdia, without his knowledge nothing happened. he knew all about this kaand from the very begining. later God punished him using Surender's wife... as all ppl knows about TITLER... and GOD made the TANDUURI CHICKEN of that guy jiski vajah se Bansi Lal ne ye kaand karwaya.

For Anil only: Firstly, I did not say that you have written badly about Surender. Secondly, some one has written bad comments about Kiran and you supported him and added some spice to it about Kiran while making a reference to Tytler. This was my reference to personal life of someone. Surender and Kiran were in the same boat and I do not think there is any use to pin point about these things. Rest is your personal opinion and I am no one to stop and advise you. I am sorry if you felt bad about whatever I commented.


Theses comments are in general: None of these people either Surender or Kiran is related to me and I never met them in life, I have written only in general sense. People have even found faults with Mahatma Gandhi also. No one is perfect in this world, instead of picking on bad things why do not people mention about their good deeds. Politics is a profession, just like any other profession. If you have personal life then they do have. To pinpoint about any thing under the sky without solid evidence is too bad. If you have evidence then go ahead and expose that person. One should not use bad words whatever comes to one’s mind while describing about a person. Every one know about this proverb: Those who live in glass houses should not throw stone on others.
THe battle ground for these politicians is election and that is the right place to defeat them if you have such thoughts about them.
