25 September (http://www.jatland.com/home/25_September) is the birthday of Chaudhary Devi Lal (http://www.jatland.com/home/Chaudhary_Devi_Lal) and 28 September (http://www.jatland.com/home/28_September) is the birthday of Sardar Bhagat Singh (http://www.jatland.com/home/Bhagat_Singh_Sandhu). Our salute to both the great souls.

We respectfully pay our tribute to the two great persons who played sterling roles in the Freedom movement and Nation building in their life. The void left behind by passing away of such great souls has been so big that none can claim to fill it in future too. We must imbibe the path shown by these great heroes - the jewels of the Jat Community.

We bow our head in due reverence to the ever great duo!!!

BBC-Hindi has carried an article on Bhagat Singh. It says that Bhagat Singh is also as popular in Pakistan as in India -

Deswal Ji,
Just staging a play in Lahore or organizing a small event/candle march by NGO’s on Bhagat Singh’s anniversary doesn’t mean that he is popular there. He cannot be popular Pakistan because of following reasons:

Firstly, period from 1930 to 1947 in Indian subcontinent is interpreted differently in India and Pakistan. In India we see this period as independence movement. While in historiography of Pakistan, it is seen as Pakistan movement rather than anti- colonial struggle. That is why independence movements and those individuals, who had taken part in it, hardly have any importance from Pakistan’s point of view.

Secondly, Bhagat Singh was an atheist and atheism goes against the core ideology of Pakistan movement and foundation of that country.

Thirdly, he wanted to change the structure of society radically. Social revolution is not acceptable in Islamic society
