Recently,Punjab has been in news for all wrong reasons..........be it kidnapping of girl.....,revival of terrorism but one thing is consonantly hitting the headlines that is DRUGS.
doda ,posth, afeem...tablets,cough syrup,injections,inhalers,whiteners you name it .....your vocabulary will finish but not the list of these drugs.Rahul Gandhi claimed in one of his addressing that 7 out of 10 youth of punjab is into drugs abuse. their was vehement opposition from the akalidal and this was declared as conspiracy to malign image of punjab..but the bug is not stopping.
i want everybody to please pay attention to youngsters and make them aware of ill effects of drug use.i see a pattern in things.... after the Green Revolution Punjab became whiskey and chicken capital this trend has been embraced by Jats of Haryana ,UP now.Now this another threat of drugs abuse could easily catch youngsters of other regions
this new threat is very disturbing , this will definitely come to other places as the income is rising and youth is being lured into wrong things this could lead to disaster.
in tribune newspaper it is mentioned that for a position of 400 army personnel out of 8800 candidates only 80 could clear the physical test earlier the youth of Punjab was known for their good physique now things have changed go through the link and suggest some measures to nip this problem in the bud http://www.tribuneindia.com/2012/20121028/edit.htm#1
two suggestions
1.Government could be pressurized to rope in our beloved pehelwans who are now role models of many .Sushil kumar ,Yogeshwar dutt could be good ambassadors for this campaign.
2.Civil Society could demand white paper from government on this issue as there are allegation that BSF and other government agencies have nexus with drugs traffickers .most of these drugs are coming from Punjab -Pakistan border.
